Trump made the mistake in his first Presidency of trusting the State actors placed before his with gleaming endorsements from the cohorts associated within...Bolton was only in Office a little over a year before Trump fired his ass, and had he not been indicted the Left would have screamed favoritism, so it's a win that Justice is being served and the Dems can't use it against the Right.

A conviction will tell for sure...everything gets a classification by the document creator(s) and a lot of stuff is branded with a higher than needed status in a self aggrandizing act, and only those that classified the Documents or perhaps POTUS are about the only ones that can de-classify it. Bolton should have know, and if low level Government Employees are trained to know about Classified Documents, then he should have as well, at the very least if he realized he had them, he could have contacted the right people and surrendered them, likely with no more ramifications than an admonishment for fucking up.
