Any news provider that charges for links will simply not get linked to.

See what their traffic looks like then LOL.

Would be even funnier if Google (who is a broker for the vast majority of online advertising) decided to just add the cost of whatever the news site charged for the links to the cost of the adds they are providing.

"Sure, we'll pay you $1 for every time we show a link to your web site. OH, BTW, our costs have gone up, so we're going to charge $1 more for each advertisement displayed on your site to cover it. Have fun."
