What's an "assault weapon"?
The definition of Assault Weapon According to DSDMMAT’s Dictionary:
a political term which came into main stream language in 1993 during the Clinton Presidency Period of US history. The term has no grounding in reality and is often used by politicians, Karens and Beta Males to describe any type of firearm they seek to remove from society. It is purely a political construct.
In the 1980s, the Left wanted to ban scary looking firearms. When they asked people if certain firearms should be banned, people asked, "Well...is it a machine gun?" The questioner had to say, "Well...no, it is not a machine gun." People generally said, "So...what's the problem, then?"
The Left then had to come up with a scary term to match their scary guns. So, they developed the term "assault weapon." People tended to confound "assault weapons" and "assault rifles" as military firearms. The uneducated were willing to ban "dangerous assault weapons."
We know that an assault rifle is defined as a rifle of an intermediate caliber that has the ability to use full automatic or burst fire. The media has now, intentionally, created the craptastic term "military style assault weapon." They're even interchangeably calling assault weapons "assault rifles."
As a final insult, we've now got Leftist terms such as "semiautomatic military style assault weapon." WTF! If I put racing stripes and a spoiler on my Honda Civic, it is not a "NASCAR style racing vehicle." It is a goddamn Honda Civic with a paint job and trunk ornament.

The judge compares the AR15 to the swiss army knife- prevalent and useful. A small win for sure that will 100% be reversed in the 9th circuit BUT a glimmer of hope. SCOTUS has been mostly unanimous lately; even on the firearms seizure case. I am optimistic.

Yeah, sure. Even if they do, they will postpone making a decision until the last session day in June 2022, by which time the Democrats will have packed the Court.
Or, they may see this CA decision being appealed to the 9th, and decide to delay hearing the NY case until the 9th Circuit case reaches them, so that they have an excuse to hear both cases together. In that case, the Roberts Court can delay making a decision by even another year or two, 2023 or 2024 perhaps?
My faith in SCOTUS doing the right thing in timely manner is greatly diminished...
