What opioid crisis!
All they are doing is punishing people who rely on this drug, as correctly prescribed by a medical doctor, for the reduction in severe and chronic pain which can in no other way be reduced.

Like gun owners, they find it far easier to punish the law-abiding rather than actually having to do work and find out where the illegality is coming from. And, in this case, only cause irreparable pain and suffering, especially to the elderly, rather than solve their manufactured "crisis".

What they are doing is beyond criminal. They are deliberately torturing people with this bullshit.

People with legit prescriptions are not the majority who are selling the opioids that others o.d. on.

This is really turning into loony world!

We don't have an OPIOD crisis per se, what we have is a FENTANYL crisis. THAT is the cause of most overdose deaths. The "War on Drugs" has been lost. Preventing patients from obtaining safe, prescription pain medications will only drive them to find alternatives on the street. Heroin sold on the street may have anything from powdered milk to rat poison mixed into it. The amount of fentanyl mixed into it varies a great deal, therefore the potency varies making the street drugs so much more deadly.

The Government started going after doctors prescribing pain meds years ago. Now, few doctors will prescribe anything stronger than ibuprofin for fear of government scrutiny.

As for holding the pharmacy that filled the prescriptions liable, that logic doesn't compute. The reason the courts went there is because that is a large source of $$$$. The question is, where is all that money going to go ? It won't bring back the dead, so whose pockets is it going to line ?

I know people with legal scrips for Methadone for pain. More and more pharmacy's are refusing to fill it. The state calls the pharmacies and tells them they have to provide counselling on alternative pain control. This should be between the MD and the patient, not the state and the pharmacist.

If you rely on opioids you live in fear that the state will ban you from getting them, then what, buy them on the street?
