Well been awhile but finally have an appointment at the LGS tomorrow. Looking like for right now its come down to the P320 Legion or a
HK VP9. Couldn't justify the Q5 cost as my first pistol with everything else I'll need. Safe, holster, ammo.. lots of ammo and some training classes.

I'm probably 90% sure it will be the Legion but have some questions. Trying to be somewhat educated before going in the LGS. First how can I tell if this particular pistol model will have the correct trigger or the older version that needs upgrading for free from Sig? Second been reading Sig is sending less magazines for the pistol because of demand? Wondering if that's true? Thanks for any help...

If it's new then it's good to go, if its used I dont exactly know but youd still be able to send it in to sig

Trigger issue was with the standard 320, not the legion. It'll come down to feel between the two guns. Legion grip is pretty big, the VP is much more contoured and it will feel like it was made for your hands.

So today was pretty unsuccessful. LGS had a line on a Legion X-5 only to find out it was sold before he could order it. They were unsuccessful finding another and have no current ETA when one might become available. So I asked about getting a HK VP9L-B. Was told I couldn't get that pistol because it wasn't NY compliant 10 round. So finally said screw it I'll order the PPQ Q5 match in Steel....... Wait for it.... Nope only can do the PPQ M2 Q5 and only comes in polymer 10 round. No Steel frame.

Of course between the pandemic and the riots I realize I could not have picked a worst time to buy my first pistol. But in my defense i started this journey in February before the shit hit the fan. So for now the LGS will continue to look for the Legion and let me know if he locates one. Might be awhile he stated.

Never purchased a gun online nor had one shipped to a shop. So I'll be honest I have no idea what is all involved with the process?

Just find the gun you want at an online retailer, they'll ship it to an FFL near you (they usually have a drop down menu of all of them on file) and you get the coupon from him send or bring it to the permit office, go back to FFL and pick up your gun. Easy peasy. Well, not really, but that's essentially it

All you do is pick what you want. Find it in stock. Buy it, the place will email you asking for your FFL info, you give them the name and number/email of the FFL you want it shipped to.. they will get the in info they need and mail them the gun.

Then your FFL will call you saying your gun is in. You go and fill out the 4473 and pay that FFL a transfer fee usually between 10 and 30 bucks. And then you are good to go (add to permit)

Hey guys being I've never purchased from the FFL and just starting a relationship with the LGS should I talk with the store before hand as a common courtesy? Not looking to ruffle his feathers right off.

Thanks for the link. Take it easy on me with these next few questions lol. So I can order any pistol and just exclude the larger mags then buy 10 rounders? And do the mags also have to go to the FFL dealer? What about the pistols that come with mags like the Legion? Will the pistol be cheaper and can I still purchase it online without the included mags if that's the only way I can find it? Sorry for all the questions.

Hey no not trying to he a dick to you, you seem to have a good idea of what you want and I dont want you to get screwed over because of bad info and then spend your money on something you may not actually have wanted.. never settle if you don't actually have to..


You can order mags right to your front door.. gunmagwarehouse is a good place to shop for mags as well

I'm sure he could get you the gun minus the magazines, then you could buy 10 round magazines. If you buy the gun from him, he would be able to get the gun with the magazines but just can't let you have them. He could likely sell them to an LE person later. If you buy it online, they will ship the gun without the magazines. That's only if their policy allows. Not all of them will do that. Personally, I wouldn't buy a gun online and then have the LGS do the transfer. That's like a kick in the balls. I'd go to a tabletop FFL for the transfer. It'll likely be cheaper anyway. I asked my initial question because it didn't seem like this gun store was trying to help you find what you wanted.

Honestly if the gun shop keeps giving him the run around, I'd 100% order the gun I want online and have then ship it to him once the transfer was complete let him know I'll be taking my business elsewhere from then on

Table top ffls are people who have their license but operate out or their home with it being a side business or hobby (still with the intent to make a profit) vs owning a full blown shop

It's probably just as well. Once you realize that you can get the same guns for $50 - $400 less depending on the gun, you may have a tendency to buy more than you need or can afford lol

Many companies offer 2 models of the same gun with just a very minor SKU change. One is the regular version good for the 45 free states and the other will be a compliant version with 10rd mags for the commie states.
