You could have experience while in the military or if you had worked for a police agency. Also, you could have moved from another state where laws are less restrictive.Awesome man congrats. What I don’t get is they ask if you have experience and it’s technically illegal to touch a handgun in ny without a permit
Put my pistol on hold yesterday
according to my informed delivery from usps, looks like there is a letter waiting for me from the sheriffs department. Assuming its to let me know that I can go pick up my permit tomorrow!
Will do. I don’t listen much just like to see different opinionsBe careful in that FB group. Lot of misinformation....

Will do thank you for the heads up. Now that I can pick up my permit what’s the next stepIf you see Matt Landfair agreeing or disagreeing it's worth paying attention. He is on of the guys who started Primary and Secondary.. while he doesnt know everything he is apart if a vast network or very knowledgeable individuals

what happens now when I bring my bill of sale to the sheriff?
that's what im afraid of. What county are you in? the letter says that I bring in the bill of sale and pay the 15$ for the license fee and a purchase coupon. just curious if they will give it to me there or if I have to wait for the judge to "approve" the purchaseSo (from my county experience) they will take that bill of sale, ask you for $4 add the "amendment" to your license and you the new updated license and a "coupon" which you then take back to your FFL hand them the coupon and they give you the gun.
Or other counties you give them the bill of sale and then the judge sits on it for weeks or even months because fuck you and then eventually they will say the judge approves of your purchase and then you can do all that other stuff

Where is up here?Up here, you buy a purchase stub, or ten if you like, at the Co. clerks office and stick it or them in your wallet. On your travels around the state, when you stop in some out of the way gun shop and find the deal of the century, you whip out one of your purchase permits, pay the man, take the gun home with you, go back to the Co. clerk and tell them what you got. It sucks that you have to go through that crap, but its much easier than most counties from what I gather here.

Sorry about that robinIt was @redtail who mentioned 10-12 in Ulster.
Picked up the license today and submitted the amendment form. Now waiting for judge to sign off. Let the wait begin. Sheriff said 3-5 weeks. Such a terrible process
