I have mixed feelings on Kennedy. He's kind of Libertarian, but he'll throw a curve ball in there every once in a while that I really don't agree with. Hopefully he's replaced with someone who is more Libertarian, but I'm not holding my breath. We'll probably end up with another justice like Gorsuch.

It would be awesome to be able to have Trump fill 2 more seats on the court. Just gotta hope that we don't have trouble in the midterms, but the outlook is good right now.
Who cares. There isn't a dime worth of difference between any of the justices. They just play roles and if needed switch place to pretend there is ideological arm wrestling going on. The problem is not so much that our system is corrupt, it's the people who refuse to see it.

Kennedy retiring and being replaced by someone who reliably leans right isn't necessarily a net win for us. He's definitely a swing vote, but he has been generally in our camp when it comes to gun rights.
RBG kicking the bucket and being replaced with someone who leans conservative will be a net win, but still not necessarily enough to overcome the roadblock that we've encountered.
It is the custom of SCOTUS to grant certiorari based upon votes of four of the nine justices. Judging by the dissenting opinions written in the last few certiorari denials, the only two solid votes to even accept a 2A case have been Thomas and Gorsuch. RBG, Sotomayor, Kagan, and Breyer a clear "no" votes. Roberts, Kennedy, and Alito will change their opinions based upon the direction of the wind.
Thomas may very well be the next to voluntarily leave the court. He has, on a number of occasions, expressed his desire to retire and travel with his wife. Replacing him with a conservative justice may not be much of a fight. After RBG, Breyer could be the next one dancing with the Reaper. At 79, he doesn't have that much time left. Replacing either of the two of them with a conservative justice is gonna be a hell of a battle.
And with the midterms coming up, who the hell knows if ANY of their replacements will even see a vote.

If you truly believe this, then you’ve never read decisions from appellate courts, the districts, or the scotus.
This couldn’t be further from the truth. You may not always agree with their decisions, but it’s nonsensical to think that Roberts is the same as Sotomayor (for example).

I look at the substance not hollow judicial drivel. Anyone who observed judicial proceedings in a courtroom should know how misleading and disingenuous are the judges, but this thread is about Supreme Court.

Now that I disagree with. In the last decade, SCOTUS ruled that 2A was an individual right, applicable to the states through the 14th Amendment, and that laws banning handguns are unconstitutional.

It's corrupt no matter what. We have a majority now not that it matters since it shouldn't be that way to rule on the Constitution and still gun cases get ignored. The same would happen if the numbers tip 3 more to our favor.

Federal courts use Heller decision to uphold gun control. It was a Trojan horse.

Welp, I waited almost 50 long years to hear SCOTUS finally rule that 2A was an individual right, and that laws banning handguns and the legal carry thereof was unconstitutional. Rome wasn't built in a day. I'll be dead in 20 years if I'm lucky. If you think it's realistic that they will take up every 2A case that is appealed from the US Court of Appeals, I'm sure they'd love to hear from you. In the meantime, we'll have to wait.

What ive been hearing is that Kenbedy retiring this summer will be good for the Repubs in the midterms.
Apparently alot of Repub voters get excited during the SCOTUS nomination process, no matter what side is choosing the judge.
This supposedly gets Repubs out to vote.

That in itself is the definition of corruption. Why did it take 50 years? Why did they interpret the 2A and say it has limits? Why won't they take just one and rule so that no other cases need to be ruled on?
