The whole premise of not paying Minimum Wage to Wait staff was the tips for their service...LOTS of folks depend on tips, and some give tips to actually help the person, but gubberment don't want help coming from anyone but them, that's why they try so damn hard to thwart NGO's or even people helping out on their own accord.
As for the 87,000 ARMED Agents: the only "firings" will be for gross incompetence and/or misconduct, there's likely to be attrition (see TSA employment) as some will figure out it's bullshit and GTFO before they become a name on a plaque remembering the fallen or the patsy for mismanagement.
The thing I don't get is why even make up a story like that. There are highly maintained and detailed records of aviation incidents. The NTSB uses them to ensure compliance and improve safety of air travel - it's one of the reasons air travel overall is extremely safe.
With records as they are it's easy to prove or disprove this type of claim, so why make BS up? It's an item that even if true wouldn't be a compelling reason to lie about it - nobody out there is like, "well, I wasn't going to vote for Trump, but now that I learned he was in a helicopter emergency landing he's my guy". It's just a hilarious and bizarre thing to lie about.
