If the public was known to be more armed, bad guys would be less prone to commit crimes. I am with darth on this issue. This whole you can't carry because a bad guy might do something is pure hoarse shit. The 2nd amendment is quite clear.

I like how you took a certain part of what I stated in a very specific rare situation, messed with the context from a totally different thread about gun carry near the president and me thinking it not being the wisest idea given the current violent political climate and vulnerability by known posing radical liberals to make it seem like I don't think anyone should carry a gun... I guess anywhere now is that it? This is unrelated and has nothing to do with carrying in a hospital or anywhere else for that matter. My opinion for one RARE scenario doesn't reflect on my general thoughts of carrying in private establishments and or public areas, which I happen to do all day everyday myself. Thanks for that though, it gave me a chuckle.

So even though the SCOTUS has determined in multiple cases there is no "duty to protect" by the government or police, they are forcing certain venues to assume that responsibility by denying the ability of individuals to protect themselves, right? The logical extension of this will be to require all public venues (grocery stores, malls strip malls, hardware stores, ad nauseum) to install metal detectors and security guards also, because... you know... children or something... That will really help the economy.

If you deny people the means to defend themselves you assume the responsibility to do so. I am OK with that.

You can tell someone to leave your store if you don't like what they are saying, and that doesn't mean you've violated their 1st ammendment right, likewise you can tell them they can't bring their arms in. But if you do the latter you become responsible for ensuring their safety. Makes perfect sense to me.

I assume these hospitals also have policies that prevent certain types of speech on the premises.

Really if you want to treat the 2nd amendment consistently with the first, you should be able to replace the word "gun" or "weapon" with "sign" in any law or regulation without it becoming a violation of the 1st amendment.

Imagine what would happen if the ATF were Alcohol Tobacco and printing presses. If an FFL were required to publish a newsletter for instance...
