Have to admit, I prefer the Kerosine.

Sorry for the hijack from oil lamps but...
In this pic you see two older Coleman lanterns on the right, those ARE the ones you want! Stay away from the newer versions, I've had nothing but trouble with 3 brand new Coleman gas lanterns one was a "dual" fuel. The pumps don't hold up, they lose pressure, and one even cought on fire! I have several that where made in the 50's and 60's and two dating back to the 40's all work great. I find them mostly at flea markets and yard sales, look on the bottom for production date. Happy hunting!

Yeah, I prefer the kerosine but keep fuel for the Coleman's on hand. Not a prepernatic, but I'd do okay.

i have a old coleman camp stove .. white gas one .. it does work with todays gasoline .. you just have to clean a lot more .. the tube from the tank to
the burners ..

also have one of the coleman lanterns (red) like in Robins photo ..

One could get just the plain glass lamp ....

Have several work very well.. Not too expensive

How about those Aladdin lamps that use a yttrium mantle that glows brightly? Not too keen on burning smelly kerosene inside the house, but from what I understand, the amount of light given off is incredible, on par with halogen lighting under the right conditions using kerosene.
