I was bored today and decided to do a little wood working...
This is just a prototype. I free handed the drillings and they are a bit off center. I'll set up a jig on the finished products.
The wood is some aromatic cedar I had laying around.
The plan is to do the 3, 6, 9 oclock positions full length and the others will be 6" length centered for a hand grip.

i love cedar , the color and smell .. i have a kitchen island that separates the kitchen and living room .. got it covered on the living room side with cedar .. 3 foot high and 9 foot long .. it does need a sanding to get the aroma back ..

i would try ruffing up the rail surface and then just epoxy it to the rail .. for the lengths it should a good bond .. would have to take a good wack in use
to crack it .. but you wouldn't have a piece of wood flapping around a screw/rivet if it did crack/break.

and also would make hitting it with some sand paper better when needed to get the cedar aroma back ..

Hmmmm. You could be on to something. As soon as a libtard sees pretty products of nature, they're brain goes into euphoria mode and they calm right down. Maybe, just maybe, I might consider hydrodipping a "scary black gun" in a woodgrain pattern? Or perhaps a Starbucks pattern? Hmmmmm.

Finally got around to finishing this little project. I also made a few extra short pieces so I can swap out the long ones if I want. I decided to use the cap screws instead of countersink because the cedar is only 3/32" thick and I was afraid of splitting it. Besides the cap screws offer a good indexing point for the finger grip.
