Killer 1911 deal.

I know a guy who would lrobably buy it just because it is not stainless. He used to,quip that: "Real men shoot blued steel guns". I am guessing that being Parkerized would not make much difference to him but he did not like stainless.

That's funny, I don't see the logic in that personally. I own a few Steel coated pistols, but when I carry them they rust, and quickly. Spending a little time outdoors with a brand new pistol and coming home to a new orange iron oxide finish I didn't pay for makes me furious. Normal wear and tear will happen, but I HATE rust.

I have owned an Armscor Model 14Y for many years. I think I got it for my son when he was 10, that would make it 16 plus years ago, almost 17? It's a basic but very good-excellent bolt action 22 youth rifle. Armscor, based in the Philippines, has been around here for awhile, 30 years in the U.S. market according to their site. Besides that rifle, I have purchased a good amount of their ammo over the years, decent stuff. Shortly, I will own one of these 45s and I trust it will be of very good to excellent quality.

Rock island Armory is part of Armscor. A Philippine company that has been around since WWII.
It's a budget 1911 compared to the more expensive 1911's on the market. But the RIA 1911 are well built & reliable.
Mine has never given me any problems & I would buy another one.
My other 1911's are safe queens. The RIA is my range toy.

Everyone has their preference. Buy what fit's you.

The RIA 1911s are a GREAT firearm, especially for the money. I have a FS1911, and can not believe how it is built, and how well it shoots.
I realize it is not a Kimber, or Ruger (both of which I have/had), but I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

I have pondered those on and off - but right now my feeling is fuck the Philippines. What did their President call us last week - "sons of whores" i believe is the verbiage he used? And they just cancelled all weapons orders from USA. Those cocksuckers were talking major smack about USA lately and sent home most of my friends that were supporting Clark Air Field. I have to wonder just when they will be forcing us to close Subik too. Right after we built those asshats a brand new highway from Subik to Clark too. Shoulda let Japan lay waste to them and keep them after WW II. I do like the idea of inexpensive 1911's but I don't think I spent much over $400 for my Springfield Armory GI model in blue so not sure if it makes sense to ever buy a PH weapon now.

The manufacturer is Armscor. Biggest / cheapest arms company in the Philippines. Been around for 100 years and until recently was always known for below-crap quality. They brand their stuff as Rock Island, Cimarron, Auto Ordnance and probably some other names I don't remember.

Damn, I have to get to my dealer today; I just checked the tracking on the RIA 1911 I ordered and saw it was delivered last Thursday to the dealer. I could not have picked it up Friday since it was a holiday and thus no way to amend my license nor yesterday because I worked but am rootin-tootin to get shootin with it today.

I guess since they have been around for 100 years, your use of the word recently could mean different things reference when their quality improved. I have owned an Armscor rifle for almost 17 years now (may actually be closer to 18 depending on what age I got it for my son to learn to shoot - either 9 or 10) which is not all that recently. That rifle is at least very good quality if not excellent. No problems with it ever. Steel and wood for the most part but the butt plate may be plastic (cannot recall). Great little rifle.

I also have been using their ammo for at least a few years, since at least 2011. Again, it is very good to excellent ammo; I have no complaints about their 45ACP and 223 for practice and plinking ammo or with 22LR for practice, plinking or hunting. I have also shot their 22WMR semi-jacketed soft point, excellent ammo.

I like the quality of the products of theirs that I have used and hopefully will be at least just as pleased with my new pistol.

I have to wonder how many of those reviewers fired 500 rounds through them before complaining about them. That is the recommended break-in for these RIA pistols. It used to be the recommended break-in amount of rounds for just about any steel pistol. Anyway, no jinx potential seen in your post; it will be either good or bad depending on Armscor and how they made it.
