Kimber 82 Government - SOLVED!

I’m hoping somebody has this rifle and can help out.

I took the barreled action off of the stock when heard a “ping”. It’s not in the schematic diagram in the owners manual.

I thought I’d post here before I have to register at rimfire central just to ask this.

Looks like an extra piece to me. Amazing how many things I buy that have extras after I take them apart and reassemble.

I didn’t recognize it because I was expecting a different part. Manual diagram shows a one piece trigger guard plate. It doesn’t look broken, it must be a two-piece plate?maybe?

Brother in laws 3rd cousin says Kimber thingys weren’t manufactured in April 3 1967 when this rifle was made. Everybody knows that

Reminds me of NASCAR, as the cars speed around the track at close to 200 MPH, all of a sudden they have to stop the race because of debris on the track. Some junk fell from one of the cars, yet they are all speeding around with no apparent distress.

Not implying..poking fun at a seemingly offhand comment. I’m sure it’ll shoot fine even if I never found out but my OCD will itch so bad....what.was.that.thing???hahaha

@nortatoga I was skimming through the rimfire central Kimber sub forum, lots of good info.

I got lucky when I saw this for sale. Still had the yellow preservative coating on most of its parts.

I wish I had picked up one of those Kimbers from CMP years ago when they had them!

You can shoot mine if you want. Picking it up this week. Came with the Kimber rest up front for bench. Cleanest 82 Govt I've seen in awhile. Has the star on the receiver but not sure that really means much.
