That's been in the works for a couple of years now. I worked for them for a few months early last year. I left a job I hated to work there. It was a great time, but my coworkers all pretty much told me not to get too comfortable, so I got ready for a short tenure.
Sure enough, I got the axe in a big wave of lay-offs 3 months in. A lot of good folks are going to be out of the job with that move. There are very, very few firearms jobs and not many manufacturing jobs around here for guys with all their experience in those fields. I think their quality is probably going to suffer for a few years since they're losing a lot of experience.
Edit: FUAC, your father, mother, brother, etc., etc.
Some will most wont. Most people are likely entrenched in their lives in NYs with spouses and kids. Also very likely the jobs doe there will pay less. Of course the cost of living will be less but it doesn’t always offset one another. Why wouldn't people follow them? I've got a great job and I'm having thoughts about applying with them.
Some people will go along, but lots of the workers have spouses who also work and wouldn't be able to get jobs at all down in Troy, Alabama. They told me I'd be guaranteed a job down there if I applied because they loved my performance and I maintained my professionalism and bearing when they gave me the axe. I remember exactly what I told the HR guy when he made me that offer: "Thank you, I really appreciate the offer and I know this wasn't your call. But respectfully, there's not a chance in hell I'd come back to, much less reapply for, a job at a company that hires someone to lay them off in 3 months without making it clear from the start that it's a short term deal." He was a real gentleman and still insisted that he would give me a great reference if I listed him on my resume. Why wouldn't people follow them? I've got a great job and I'm having thoughts about applying with them.
Highly recommended. I got to shoot a bunch of the first 3" K6S DASAs off the line. I love revolvers and I can tell you that the K6S action has what's, in my opinion, the best double-action trigger of any current production handgun. The SA trigger is good too, but not noticeably better than the competition's to me. On top of that, it's compact and packable for a 6-shot .357 and damned accurate. It does recoil with some bite due to the size/weight, but there are worse. I'd go for the 4" for a "do-everything" gun or the 2" DAO with the rubber grips for a carry piece. So now is not the time to buy a k6s dasa??
Some guns will have Alabama markings because they definitely have some goings on down there. My guess is that the 1911 production will be last to go down since that platform requires the most hand fitting/finishing.MothMan i would buy it it's going to be a NY gun I don't think they've started Alabama up yet
