Kingston NY Town Hall - Preventing Gun Violence

Dear friend,

When I decided to run for Congress in NY-19, I was told I shouldn't talk about guns in our district because it's politically risky. But I refuse to stay silent on the issue of gun violence in our community.

Last week, students across the country organized walkouts to protest the NRA and gun violence while honoring the 17 lives lost at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. I'm going to be joining our district's students, educators and families this Saturday at the March For Our Lives Hudson Valley.

New Yorkers are united in their support for universal background checks and waiting periods, keeping guns out of the hands of domestic abusers, banning bump stocks and assault weapons, and NOT arming teachers, yet Rep. John Faso has been silent on the issue.

He won't act, so we will.

We've seen no movement on this issue since Parkland, but I know the majority of us agree on common sense solutions. We're inviting students, educators, law enforcement, public officials and all community members.

Dear Oppressor,
New Yorkers are NOT united in your effort to suspend the Constitution and strip the Rights from law-abiding citizens.
Your claims of "common sense" are directly opposed to that honorable idea. They are neither common, nor do they make any sense unless your goal is the complete disarmament of America. If you were to truly look at the end results of previous attempts to do what you are proposing you would be appalled at the horrific number of deaths caused after law-abiding citizens can no longer defend themselves.
Your constant coddling of criminals has added to the tragedies unfolding on innocent Americans.

I suggest you thank whatever powers you hold dear that I am not a resident of your District, as I could not, with any good conscience, vote for such an incompetent and malicious fascist, such as yourself.

Because it's Kingston you'll get a whole bunch of bleeding heart libs there to scream about gun violence. I'd say save your breath and just continue to support Faso (the GOP candidate) for now. As an aside I briefly met John Faso at an event when he was running a few years ago and he seemed like a genuinely nice guy. Didn't get a chance to talk to him too much though.

Oh, so this guy is West Point grad and a combat vet? I guess you didn't pass civics 101 though and learn about that the 2nd Amendment isn't about killin' deerz did you?

If you are talking about Catskillkid's comment on Faso, he is a great guy and also pro 2A. If you are talking about Pat Ryan you are seriously and painfully misinformed.

As an aside I briefly met John Faso at an event when he was running a few years ago and he seemed like a genuinely nice guy.
