Ok. I had a real nice boot knife at one time. A trooper seen it in my car and said it was illegal in NY, said he could charge me for having it or he'd dispose of it for me. I'm thinking the fucker took it home with him.
I kinda like the M&P knife that company sells.
I am the kind of guy that most times, cannot be bothered with the stuff that people have. As long as they are not stabbing me, go for it.

Without some exemption, carrying a double edged knife is illegal.
Here's the especially silly part of how the law is written. See, some will tell you it is legal due to the text of (Criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree.) §265.01(2)
(2) He possesses any dagger, dangerous knife, dirk, razor, stiletto, imitation pistol, or any other dangerous or deadly instrument or weapon with intent to use the same unlawfully against another"
So, surely if you have no intent to use it unlawfully against another then it's legal right ? It would seem as though that were written to be used as an additional charge to something else; wherein it could be asserted to be known that someone had unlawful intent due to some other action.
Well, no, this is just FUNY laws being FUNY laws, because in (Presumptions of possession, unlawful intent and defacement) §265.15(4) we get..
"The possession by any person of any dagger,
dirk, stiletto, dangerous knife or any other weapon, instrument,
appliance or substance designed, made or adapted for use primarily as a
weapon, is presumptive evidence of intent to use the same unlawfully
against another."

Perfect example of why I should be skeptical about spring assisted knives being legal for use while hunting or fishing.
