wrong gun and specially ammo for this type of engagement.
A high velocity round like a varmint grenade will come with a lower liability yet equally lethal on neutralizing soft targets.
I always tell patrol cars should have spire points and fmjs for fights on the streets with cars barriers but for indoors
populated structures they should use a specialized type of ammo/magazine.
I agree with @Darth, a modern tactical semi-auto shotgun with medium shot and a wider spread could have been better to control
colateral while being very effective stopping threats on their tracks.
Experience and Situational awareness is also key. Everyone knows in those buildings walls are not concrete bunkers.
Police are under a lot of pressure from all side but a bit more training would go long ways.
Someties we talk about this situation during the IDPA training that, btw, some LE guys have to cover from their own pocket so they can
get better and be safer.
Departments themselves do not give enough training.
