I found the NYPD to be very accommodating. They originally had me scheduled for prints/interview in March of 2023, I was unable to travel to NYC in March due to my work schedule. I called and they let me pick the date for prints/interview. Total time spent at 1PP was approximately 2 hours.

There is a NYS law where the permit decisions is supposed to be given in 6 months or less and also the cost and many appointments needed are a joke. Why did you have to travel to NYC for your prints as there are many places around that do them electronically. Identigo is one company that many people use and many government agencies trust. They aren’t accommodating. Yes it was nice that they let you change dates and pick a date for prints but none of that should be necessary.

They make you do it there because its their way to exact control, make the process as tedious as possible in the hopes people will give up or be turned off to the prospect of applying.

The cost is also currently under scrutiny. I know there is definitely a compliant filed against NYC and NYPD for this, but im not sure if its taken form of legal action. The complaint was that it prices lower income people of exercising their 2A right.
