So I picked up some 45acp cast coated RN and go to my books for load data but not getting much other than for lswc. For the powder that's fine The part that gets me is the oal. Would utilizing any oal for 200 grain rn suffice?

I have found that when reloading with powder coated bullets, that I have had to reduce the OAL.
I run my 9mm down to an OAL of 1.08, and my .45acp down to 1.23.
These work in all of my handguns. Any longer and I have a couple of handguns that tend to have chambering issues.

That's what I was reading was to reduce but couldn't find what to fo down to. Some say 1.25 others, like yourself, say even shorter. There's really not much in the way of data for 200 grain lrn that I have found. Thanks for the insight.

The easiest way to get a starting point for ANY magazine fed gun is to load the rounds where the bullets will just clear the magazine. If that works you can just keep it there. If there are problems feeding just shorten incrementally.

That is definitely very sound advice. Thanks so much. I really need to invest in chrono. Trying to find a powder that works well with 45acp and not so dirty. Going to try some Unique and Bullseye as I found power pistol left too much reside.
I've used bullseye with 200gr coated 45acp. It was a very good round for me. I can't get you the load data sadly. All of my books are stacked in the farthest corner waiting for the new house.

That's the issue is all of my books, lyman, do not reference 200gr lrn. They have plenty of information on lswc though.

I think I looked at them in the past. What is their turnaround time? I recall reading something on their site about as product is available or something.
I only ordered them a few times, but they all were filled at normal speed. I hoped on some good deals in big quantities so I haven't ordered from them in a couple years.
RN is going to be longer than SWC though, and you aren't concerned with max COAL. Only Minimum (And even there you are safe...I deep set bullets on purpose to try this out one time). The data provided in the books is only the minimum.

My Lee manual calls out lead bullet only and runs from 1.190 to 1.225. Some loads run a little longer. Ram zip, silhouette and n 320 and 340 run a little longer.
