Leather Holsters

Am I missing anything by not owning a leather holster? I have a box full of kydex ones but I saw a nice Bianchi and I’m thinking about getting it. It would be OWB. I’ve never really given leather much thought because I like how you get that nice click with using keydex and I feel the trigger is better protected in them. I saw a story where someone was using a worn out leather one that became soft and it activated the trigger as he was getting into his car.

Should I bother?

I'm kinda old school at core given choice I'd always go for quality leather. Boots, holsters, belts, even tool belts no matter lol... oh, and Obenaufs for sure to keep them in prime condition.

One disadvantage with leather is it can retain moisture and lead to rusting esp with blued guns but that doesn't seem to be a problem with new gen polymer...

My EDC (for when I IWB) is a Desantis Cozy partner.

I've never paid any mind to the worn out leather story. And Kydex can split and do the same thing.

I have a SuperTuck, too bulky.

Deep down I'm a purest. I've got three leather. All are custom made. One is a shoulder rig with two mag pouches opposite armpit. One is a an OWB concealed carry. One is a cowboy style for range and woods carry.

I got the supertuck as a first holster. Had it before I even had the gun. Quickly got away from using it because I find it’s too wide and I really need to tighten my belt down to an uncomfortable level to keep the gun from sagging.

As for the worn out leather problem, here’s something to be aware of and keep in mind.

I've been looking myself 1791 holsters are getting really good reviews. And they have a 4 in 1 that has piqued my interest.

I too was looking at a 1791 4 in 1. Messaged a couple of members that have them and got both a yes and no to whether they like them.
I'm told the 1791 is quite thick and rigid. I get the impression that they are similar to LE duty holsters in thickness.
I found a Tagua 4in1 on Ebay that was inexpensive as the seller did not know what it fit. l was able to find out it fit a SR9c/ SR40c so I picked it up. My barrel sticks out a bit . I'm OK with that . Just got it and the belt . Haven't worn it around the house yet.

I have a Dasantis Dual Carry II coming as well .

Amazon sells them. Order one and see what you think. You've got 30 days to return it. Drop it off at Kohls. They box it up and send it back for you free of charge.

The 1791's are reportedly very tight, and takes a while to break them in.

I like a good leather holster. I will only carry my revolvers and 1911's in a leather holster.

For my polymer guns, I carry them in either leather or kydex.

My 1911 ONLY goes in leather. It's a Colt Officer in what used to be their "ultimate finish" which is a polished stainless. Colt wants $400 for a factory re-polish.
