Lee Armory NY compliant AKMs

Can't wait to shoot these next week. Guys over at Lee Armory did an amazing job putting these polish AKMs together. I don't normally go out of my way to mention vendors normally, but these guys were amazing during the whole process communication wise.

Prices are on-par with Arsenal's stamped ones. Depends on the kits they get in. They normally come with wood, and land in the $1000-$1200 base. However, I've been told they were able to do a few things and their prices might be coming down a little. The ones above are moly over park, but now they've gone to just park and no moly, as well as a few other things to bring it down a little in cost. (They can put moly on though, if you ask, on top of the park for a charge.)

In this case, I sent them some parts like the furniture (Magpul) and the trigger (AKT-EL) which they put in no problem.

That's them. However, like I said, they're making some changes so that price may come down. I suggest you email them and ask sales for some more info on when changes will happen.

They may also change the grip from a spur by default to something else, I had heard. I don't believe they've done that yet, though.

Not trolling, genuinely curious why someone would want these? Especially at a premium twice the cost of a basic Magpul'd AR15? (Or several hundred more than a comparable AR10)

It's not like they're historically significant with American plastic furniture?

I've never heard they're more accurate...

Are they somehow more reliable than a modern AR15? Even with harder to find parts, etc.?

Reliability, and the 7.62x39 has some really nice barrier penetration. They're not as inaccurate as their reputation

I just tried a boar grip (with ar to ak adapter) on my yugo ak, and it does not work ergonomically. There is not enough room for my knuckles to got between the top rear of the grip and the rear of the receiver at the stock to be comfortable. I think it will need about a one inch custom spacer between the adapter and receiver.

Thanks for the info. I may switch out the grip for another compliant grip, since I've heard kinda meh things about the spur.

It is very comfortable on an AR, but that's a totally different configuration.

We are very proud to offer AKM's and soon other firearms to the NY Market. I do agree, the spur grip is annoying ... We are very receptive to grip options. Please let us know! We are also lowering the cost to produce NY AKM's, how do your FFL's feel about Monster Man style grips?

Our receivers are from Morrissey, same as everyone else despite the markings on the sheet metal. We worked with Morrissey last year to improve their receivers preventing BCG jump and many other features.

Uzi's are a ton of fun. Fun fact! The first 9mm I ever shot was a first generation uzi. On the topic at hand, I think the rifle is really cool, all of them actually, but it's just those "grips" that are very silly to me. Not having a pistol grip is too unappealing. This is purely my own opinion though and not a generalized statement. I understand you have to do what you have to do and the options are very limited, Sales important etc; I'd almost rather have a filled thumb hole stock as a replacement or something if possible.

Yeah that's what he was saying I think. The monster man may be an option they offer, which is basically like a filled thumb hole grip. Seemed like they were looking into it.

Monsterman is also fairly nice. My only concerns are if it is as vetted as the spur grip, legally speaking. Anyone know of any cases where it was prosecuted against? I haven't seen the spur grip in the news either.

There is no legal interpretation or case law as of yet for anything.

The AR Sporting & Varmint Rifle Hunters Grip by Ed Duda could work also. He even has an instructional video on how to make the mold to produce his grip in volume quantities.
