I am pretty sure the vertical grip on a pistol will get the ATFs attention.
That is not a pistol brace. That is an SBR and idk how he is not in custody yet.
The guy is clearly an idiot and doesn’t know what he’s doing or he was given terrible information. But based on his weapon manipulation skills, his choice of god awful red anodized parts including Strike Industries, an Anderson lower, the backwards front sight, and an actual stock instead of a brace…I’m gonna say that it’s just that the guys a moron.

He violated rule number one of building guns. If you don’t know the laws don’t post video evidence on line.
I see a visit from the ATF in his future.
I have talked to some NY AR owners who thought they could fix a 30 round Mag ( not a 10/30 but full capacity) in their AR and be legal. I just shook my head and said “good luck with that.”

I love how everyone is saying he is a complete idiot for not understanding our complicated gun laws. Like anyone who hasn't spent 8 years in law school is an idiot now... I get that most of us know those things are a no-no but you also can't blame him for having a very bad understanding of bad laws.
If he just built it and didn’t know the laws then I can see how he could mess it up, but then he’d still be pretty stupid for not doing the research to do it properly. But since he knows he needs a pinned mag, not to mention the 50oz or more weight limit on a pistol which is probably one of the ones people know the least…it appears he obviously did enough research into building it. He’s just really bad at research and or comprehension.
He also commented about process of building it in the channel comments and stated that he needed to bring it to an FFL and get a statement in writing that it was Compliant. So either FFL f'd up or he added stock and foregrip after it was on his permit. Personally I think he understands NYS law and believes it is compliant but doesn't realize it is a no-go under Federal law...
Yeah, well if the FFL built it in that configuration than the FFL is a completely moron. He can probably say goodbye to his license very soon if that’s the case.

But yea, I mean, you can hardly blame the guy. I've seen people at ranges, including government-owned ones, with guns that violated our nonsensical laws. I've also heard plenty of people saying that things are illegal in NY which aren't. Our laws are complicated beyond the point of many people's ability to flip to the relevant statutes, read them for themselves, and clearly understand what is not legal, which is bullshit.
Well, didn't Clinton create the new legal paradigm of being non-prosecutable when she didn't INTEND to break any law... But did...

I don't know if its legal or not, why it is legal or not, I try to be legal but there Is no doubt in my mind that if some cop saw one of mine and wanted to jerk me around, even though his knowledge of the SAFE Act may be less than mine, he could, then it becomes death by process, win or lose. All over something that is none of their fucking business in the first place, fuck this shit hole state and the supposed 'legally' elected assholes that have made it the state with the least Liberty in the Union.
