This is more than 2 years old from the 2019-2020 NY legeslative session. It is still hanging around as S1605 and A3829 for the current session. It's still in Codes Committee. When the new york state rifle and pistol association issues a new video linking to a 2 year old link, it feels like lazy fund raising.

I was young and dumb.

I had one ask me why I talk to myself. I told him there weren't any other people smart enough to carry on a conversation with. He didn't like that very much since I was being very evasive to the rest of his questions and providing only very simple one word answers.

No mental health professional would accept such a job.
If they "cleared" someone who then committed a crime, the doc could be liable.
If they refuse to clear anyone, which is what the state wants, they could be sued for blocking civil rights (since firearms ownership is protected in the New York civil code).

The evaluation wasn't going well right from the start, mainly because all it really was was an attempt by the union bosses to get me fired and I knew it. So my evasive answers were not giving the quak anything to work with. Then I insulted him by insinuating that he was too stupid to have a conversation with. Things REALLY went off the rails a little while later when I told him that he had daddy issues and that was the likely cause of him not coming out of the closet as a homosexual. He turned BEET red and screamed "We're not here to talk about me !!" And then my reply of "Well, maybe we should be because you're clearly the one with issues here." really sealed it. He stormed out of the room. I was getting ready to leave and the director of the clinic came in. I told him exactly why I was there, that the union was doing this to get rid of me, that the union boss threatened me in front of witnesses and yet she was not referred for counseling, but that I was there for my "anger issues". Then I told him what happened with the shrink. He laughed so damn hard through all of it I thought he was going to piss himself. After all was said and done, he said I'll handle this right now. He got on the phone and called the union office. He demanded to see the bitch that threatened me as a patient. He demanded to know why I was there but not her. Then he said he was closing the case and that he would testify for me if I wished to press charges against the union or the bitch. The end. And hung up the phone.
As I walked out without paying, i saw the shrink that I somehow offended, and as I walked past I blew him a kiss and winked. The director stood there and watched as I did. I don't know how he kept his composure, but he did. It was great.
Next time I'll tell you the story about me and the shrink when I accidently missed a question on the MMPItest, and all my answers were off by one number. Anyone that doesn't know what a MMPI is, it's a 500 question test used to determine whether you're stable, likely to commit a crime, are a sexual deviant, those sorts of things. The questions have different point values. Most are worth say 1 point, but then there are 3,5,10 and 25point qusetions. If you score above a certain number, or get a couple big point questions wrong, it sets off alarm bells and you get to go see the shrink. So, imagine what moving all your answers up one row would do. It was a full day of fun and laughs and a syringe of thorozine close by just in case.
