I believe the incumbant she beat was a long time office holder.I think most of the voters became complacent and just assumed he wasnt going anywhere,hopefully they have woken up.

The right needs younger people and more minorities running if they want to pull the democratic votes away from their base. It still won't get them a huge portion of the vote -- but they don't need to win all of the vote. They just need to pull even 10-15% of the black vote, and the dems are in serious trouble.
Her district is a solid democratic one. No chance a Republican gets in. Remember she beat someone in the leadership of the party and a pelosi ally in the Democratic primary. It remains to be seen if there truly are any sane Democrats in that district. As long as Trump is president I think the district will suffer from TDS and will belong to the looney left.
