Alright so a new Pick One from 9-Hole reviews is about to go down.

This time M16A1 vs. L1A1 with Trilux SUIT 4x scope.

Now it may be simple oh I'll take this or that, but to really get a good idea of what may be the best option you should watch the scenario video (it's only like 6 min)

If I was the team leader I would have at least two armed with the FN and the rest with m-16's. Well, that might not work, I read the Brits didn't have full auto on their rifles and were taking and using captures FN's, so......................

Has to be the M16 for me just based on my familiarity with it.

But, beyond that, I would consider factors like the weight of the rifle and ammo. I want as high a round count as possible with only 5 of us and I can carry a higher number of 5.56 for a given weight than 7.62.

I like Robin's solution a lot to have 2 equipped with the L1A1. I'd probably have 1 or 2 armed with the L1 while everyone else carries M16s and more ammo. I'd like to have the ability for us to maximize volume of fire if it turned out that we were made and had to hold out against a larger force. That said, having one designated marksman with an optic is useful. With open terrain, I might go for two to allow better engagement at range with lethal, precise fire while still retaining the ability for heavier volume if a larger force closes in or when assaulting the position after making the reconnaisance.

Assuming this was night time, definitely the L1A1 as the trilux had the tritium insert for the reticle.

I had a look through a SUSAT years ago at an Army weapons demo, didn't look much better than pictured. FOV is tight, eyebox is finicky and the reticle is weird.
