While the state legislature was not in session, Everytown’s Albany lobbyists reported lobbying Senate staff on bill A-6652/S-5902, Requires the submission of proof of personal liability insurance prior to the issuance or renewal of a license to carry a firearm.

This idea has been around for years and gone nowhere but post-Bruen the legislature is looking for inventive new ways to screw people over so add the bill to your watch list.

All of this continues to happen because we have no criminal penalties for making laws that will be struck down. If I wrong someone and a court finds me guilty, I am subject to fines or jail time. When a politician does this on a mass scale, nothing.

That's our problem. Make them criminally liable and you end this charade. Make them think twice about even attempting to pass any law like this. It should be iron glad before being codified on paper, both for the sake of the people and author of the bill.
