Thinking about picking up a box or 3 to test at the range. I think follow up shots would be faster, more accurate and reduced carry weight.
Con, I doubt penetration is high and they are expensive to train with.

Give "Tools and Targets" videos a look on youtube. He does probably the best ammo testing on video. No bullshit, he is tough on ammo manufacturers.
If I remember correctly, this ammo fragments by design, but does a lot of damage.
The only issue with super light for caliber ammo is it doesn't do great with cloths, bone, tendons....or obviously any hard barriers.
I tried a brand of 60 grain 9mm a few years ago. I didn't have gel, but it would not penetrate plywood that 22lr went straight through. It disintegrated on contact.
I believe this Civil Defense is better, but still doesn't do great on barriers.
Anyways, there are dozens of videos on youtube testing this very popular ammo.

For a 9mm lighter weight self defense carry ammo, you may want to look at rounds loaded with 90g or 68g Lehigh Defense Xtreme Defense bullets (you may not even need +P with these for desired penetration and wound cavity) I believe Lehigh Defense is now owned by Wilson Combat. Underwood Ammo has nice options in 9mm using both the XD and XP (Xtreme Penetrator may over penetrate in some applications) in various P, +P, and +P+ loads.
