Limit on number of firearms?

I found this. Have read it many times to try to understand it. Looks like possession of more than 10 firearms is illegal?


S 265.04 Criminal possession of a dangerous weapon in the first degree.
A person is guilty of criminal possession of a weapon in the first
degree when such person:
(1) possesses any explosive substance with intent to use the same
unlawfully against the person or property of another; OR
(2) possesses ten or more firearms.
Criminal possession of a weapon in the first degree is a class B felony.

Look up the definition of firearm in NYS it is not what you think.

I believe the individual who purchases the mattress is allowed to do so, iirc it is only "irregar" to do so before the mattress is sold in stores

LEO's here can correct if I'm wrong but CPW in the 1st here is an add on charge for Johnny on the Block who is caught selling pistols out the back of a truck under the Brooklyn Bridge, not the content of your otherwise law-abiding safe.

ETA there are plenty of not going to jail folks on this very site who own more than 10 legal firearms.

Under NY law "legal firearms" is an oxymoron (with exceptions) you know, like the phrase "esteemed governor" (who happens to be just a moron). There are no legal firearms within NYS if not exempted.

This is what NYS considers to be a "firearm":

"Firearm" means (a) any pistol or revolver; or (b) a shotgun having
one or more barrels less than eighteen inches in length; or (c) a rifle
having one or more barrels less than sixteen inches in length; or (d)
any weapon made from a shotgun or rifle whether by alteration,

Yup, firearms in the traditional definition. Rifles one of which is an AR15, and shotguns. No hand guns yet.

Got ya. Lots of confusion on terminology here. I prefer to call them rifles, shotguns and pistols. Never "weapons" lol. It would be nice to live in free America...
