Now that the historic Remington plant in ilion has sadly closed for good and officially moved to Georgia , will the value of the Mohawk Valley made firearms see an increase in value and become more desirable?
I just saw a NIB old stock 1100 LT20 go for $1350 @ the Hessney auction yesterday
Remington Ammunition is in the same Plant, but under entirely different ownership: Vista Group bought up the "Remington" name and the ammunition division in Arkansas, which has subsequently been sold to a Czech group. It would seem, with a brand new factory, brand new CNC equipment, i would think Remington might just make better quality guns.
My biggest concern, is all the fat cats suckin off the bank accounts within the company, again.
Seems there new ammo facility is making some decent ammo now.
Time will tell.
I agree with the statement on Colt. Although they have gotten better, but at a premium. Same with Winchester. I collect old and new Winchesters, but nothing from the (19) 80s and 90s as their quality was lackluster. The new Winchesters (lever guns) are superb quality, but at a premium. And lets be honest here, they are only Winchester by name, made by the quality craftmanship of the Japanese.Remington Ammunition is in the same Plant, but under entirely different ownership: Vista Group bought up the "Remington" name and the ammunition division in Arkansas, which has subsequently been sold to a Czech group.
"Rem Arms" came from the defunct Remington Arm Corp. which bankrupted, and was bought up by the Roundhill Group. There's no telling what or how well the products made in Georgia will be and given the 'bugs' invariably associated with new machinery, new operators, new lines, et.al the first ones may or may now reflect the standard of quality that built and ultimately added another nail to the coffin of their demise.
I used to collect Colt's:: Colt built a name brand and reputation, then over time quality diminished while costs increased to the point a once fine named product was abject shit....seems to be a theme of Gun makers across the board.
