I must admit, sometimes life gets in the way and I sometimes miss things. I was talking to one of my vendors the other day and he mentioned about some new crap that Albany pushed through under the dark of night about having to list all long guns you own under pistol permit recertification and if you don't and they check you loose your permit and long guns? Is this BS or fact?

First im hearing about it. Sounds like someone ate something too spicy before bed and had a bad dream... the only long gun registration I know of had to do with AW's and the deadline for that has long passed. As far as recertification of your PP, they just want you to list all your handguns.
As far as listing your long guns on your pistol license that is BS. Loosing your Pistol license will put your long guns in jeopardy of confiscation, that is fact. The safe act has a provision that if your Pistol license is revoked you also lose your long guns.
I am not sure how this would survive a legal challenge, because your neighbor doesn't need a pistol license to own long guns and if he has no Pistol license to loose on the whim of a judge, definite violation of the 14th Amendment to the US constitution (equal protection under the law).

I keep forgetting about that piece of paper, I am going to have to put a reminder in my phone so I don't miss the deadline. Still waiting for my notification letter that I have to recert.

I do not technically own any long guns personally. They are family property and can immediately and legally be transferred to my wife, son, daughter and mother under the Snake Act. My mother can in turn legally give them to my brothers and sisters, of which they can in turn legally give them to their spouses and children. Some of them live out of state. All are over 21 and would pass a 4473/FBI/ATF background check.
In a pinch I have an FFL who will adopt them and resell them if necessary.
No fracking way will Andy or his communist cronies get my private property.
Have a plan B and C and tell Andy to go piss in his shoe. The Minutemen didn't win the Revolution by procrastinating.

What letter?
The counties were supposed to send out a letter by the end of Jan 2017 to everyone that is required to recertify. My FFL and former boss got a recert letter, I never have.

Some years ago the DMV sent my car registration renewal to the wrong address. I missed the renewal and ended up with a $90 ticket. If someone misses the deadline under the recert provision of the Snake Act they could lose their permit, handguns and possibly be a felon.
Keep that in mind next time someone suggest firearms should be treated like automobiles.

You can put them in a trust, like the one I have for my cans.
Whether or not you get the letter, you are still a felon after 2/1/18 if you don't recertify.

Immediate family members don't need a background check under the safe act. So you can give them to your wife or kids nonpaperwork needed.

To say nothing of the fact that you can go out and buy new long guns the next day.
I wonder what they would do if you were ordered to turn them all in, and you said "sorry, just pawned them all", then next week you go down to the pawn shop and get 'em all back.

Wait, clarify this for me. Are you saying that if they revoke your PP and take all you long guns also, you can just go buy more long guns? Or are you saying to temporarily transfer your long guns elsewhere, hand in your pistols and then go get your long guns back?

I am saying both.
You can buy more long guns as long as whatever you did to get your permit pulled doesn't make you a prohibited person.
You can sell (or otherwise transfer) your guns, they are not evidence, and if they want to go after you for contempt or something for doing so I think that is a fight worth having.
Once they have all your 0 remaining long guns you can go back out and purchase them back.
That all presupposes that the order to turn them in isn't hand delivered by a deputy at the front door though.....
...and that's a great reason to have Two Safes! The cheap empty visible one, and the hidden actual one!

Nothing in the law to that affect that I am aware of. It says they will take them all, but if you lost the permit for violating an administrative restriction, or something like that, there is nothing to prohibit you.
If they tried to turn you into a prohibited person for something arbitrary you have pretty good grounds for a lawsuit.

I went upstairs and left the safe open and the dog ate all my long guns too.
I believe they only take your long guns if your permit is revoked on the grounds of you becoming a prohibited person. I'm in my phone, not my pc right now though and don't have the text right in front of me.
