Looking for a good soft shooting 9mm

I almost bought the 238 a while back. Great gun it’s been a few years so I don’t remember how easy or hard it is to rack the slide but this could fit the pink pistol she’s referenced wanting. I know they make them in a bunch of colors and designs. I’d just have to see how much she wants to train on disengaging the safety. Probably not a ton honestly. She said she’s willing to shoot again though so that’s progress.

If she found some shooting buddies, you may become ammo poor but I'd bet she would shoot more. I haven't looked in a while but there are a few places with range ladies nights, concealed carry fashion shows, ladies only events, and believe it or not ... many of my wife's ballroom dancing friends were suprised to learn they all shoot and conceal carry. It may be an easy reach if some of your shooting buddies' wives or girlfriends spent some time together.

never thought of lighter recoil ammo. I’ve heard the polymer and copper ammo is light recoil. Maybe I’ll try that. She said the Springfield is acceptable.
She had a really hard time racking the slide. She could get it but really struggled. The ez rack MP might be something to look at.
I do like the CZ 75 and thought about a 1911 9mm but not sure on the slide and the safety. She will forget the safety because she won’t practice repetitive enough.
She did say she wants to shoot again to get used to the noise and recoil slowly. I can respect that.
I won’t do anything immediate but lots of food recommendations here.

Along the same thought train as starting out with lower recoil ammo ...

Using Hogue Rubber Grips can make for nice training wheels. Although they would thicken the grip (less than I at first assumed), they can make a more significant reduction in perceived recoil than low recoil ammo.

That’s a thought. She’s 5’2” and 115lbs. She has small hands so not sure that would help. Might hurt her. I’ll have her hold my double stacked 1911 and see if she can wrap around that.

I know a few women of similar stature who have and like Hogue grips on sub compacts and small revolvers. It's a cheap experiment and used mint grips sell quickly if it does not work.

She might want a longer frame. My wife can’t shoot her g43 all that well but she does better with my g43x. Have her try something that she can get all of her fingers on. My wife is 5’2” and tiny hands.

This is for her own personal defense right? If so, do not base the decision on a caliber you like. Base it on what will be comfortable for her to shoot accurately, carry, and conceal. It will be for her. Not you.

Many husbands make that mistake and their wife ends up with a gun that she cannot control and is too bulky for her to conceal properly. It then gets left at home because it becomes a chore to just run to the bank.

Even if it’s a .32, if she’s accurate with it and she carries it, she will be better able to defend herself than with a heavier gun that she cannot handle.

Many husbands make that mistake and their wife ends up with a gun that she cannot control and is too bulky for her to conceal properly. It then gets left at home because it becomes a chore to just run to the bank.

Even if it’s a .32, if she’s accurate with it and she carries it, she will be better able to defend herself than with a heavier gun that she cannot handle.

So I doubt she will carry a pistol. It’s more for home defense at this point and hoping she will CCW at some point. I’m looking for something larger with longer sight radius to help her be more accurate with her shots to build confidence. She’s very type A and those types don’t and can’t accept failure. I’ve given her praise and told her she shot well as she did for a first timer. She needs to move closer to her target but she wasn’t comfortable doing that.
I absolutely will let her choose the pistol she wants and I will buy her whatever she wants. I’m confident she will become a good shooter.

g48 and if she gets proficient u could buy a g43x pistol or just the slide to put on the g48 frame.

Head out to the Firing Pin in Bergen when they get the range open again. They have an awesome selection of rentals. I think the Beretta px4 storm is worth a look. You can really clean up the trigger on them down the road to if she likes it. Otherwise the M&P 380 or 9 EZ may be good options. They are easier to load and rack than most. I have a 365 and recoil is pretty manageable but I can see her struggling with one. The xl may be better, and Wolcott is selling them.

Rifle.
Shotgun.
Pistol SHE likes and is comfortable with.

I agree, a .32 she will practice with beats a 9mm she won't.
