The first semi-automatic shotgun I bought was the Mossberg JM Pro, I got it because I had heard good things about it and it was quite affordable compared to the other options. But I did end up having some feeding issues with it so there was a number of things I did to it to help improve the function. I compiled a list that I pass on to anybody that wants to improve their Mossberg 930, but I did sell it for Benelli M2 because I did not feel comfortable owning a gun where I always had to worry if it was going to malfunction on me.

Beretta A300 Outlander Black Synthetic 12 GA 28-Inch 3Rd

I was looking at CZ's last year, but could not find anyone who stocked them. I didn't want to buy it on line because you really should shoulder the shotgun to see if it fits you. I decided on a Beretta A300 with the walnut stock (I'm partial to wood stocks) and got it for $729.00. I have only put a little over 100 rounds through it so far and it has not had any issues. I've shot a few #5 heavy field loads and a few #6 upland game loads with it and 100 rounds of cheap #7-1/2, 1-1/8 once target loads. It cycled them all with no problems. My only suggestion is to go to a gun store that stocks a few different makes and models and shoulder them to see if they feel comfortable and that the rib and bead align with your eye correctly. I shouldered many different makes, Mossberg, Remington, Winchester and Browning and found that the Beretta fit me the best and felt the lightest in my hands. The only drawback is that if you want to use the gun for something other then upland game, such as deer, they do not make a rifled slug barrel for it. The turkey barrel they make is available, but expensive. They do however make a dedicated turkey version of this gun. In any case, there are no semi autos that I could find that come as a combo gun with multiple barrels for deer, turkey and upland game. For that you are limited to pump actions such as the Mossberg 500. Nothing wrong with pump actions. I owned a Winchester pump for decades and loved that shotgun. Good luck with whatever you decide on.

Last shoot I went to, the guy with the Benelli M4 had the same exact issues i did. I paid less than a third what he did though. They have aftermarket parts that allow them to cycle everything. Not sure about jamming though as I've never experienced that with mine.

I think I settled on the benelli montfeltro, but I need to save my pennies at $1000. I looked at the beretta a300 and it was a bit heavy and bulky for me. I’m pretty small so I need a small lightweight gun. I can should the Benelli super fast and I love the sighting system on them.
