I think the full-sized VP9 would be better to learn handgun fundamentals. A bigger, more comfortable grip will help you learn to manage recoil. A longer sight radius will produce better sight alignment unless you're nearsighted. Slightly more weight will reduce felt recoil slightly. The VP9 doesn't seem any harder to conceal than a Glock 19. It will be somewhat harder/less comfortable to conceal than the SK, but definitely doable in an appendix or shoulder holster with the disclaimer that some styles of carry work better for different body types, so YMMV.
Thank you for your insight. After further deliberation in addition to your input and a visit to a friend's to hold both a VP9 and a VP9SK i believe i have come to a decision. Im most likely to go with the full size VP9 and potentially skip the sk entirely. The standard 9 seemed mostly concealable and if so the sk would be unnecessary. Instead i will most likely invest in a similar style. 22 for fun inexpensive enjoyment. That also moves me closer to my much longer term goal of purchasing a 1911 , specifically a Wilson combat 1911 or 2011 in 9mm ( for consistancy of ammo).
The staccato P honestly may actually be a future purchase...I mean if you want something on the higher end.

If you have never handled a 1911, I suggest you do. In my opinion it's one of the most comfortable grips of any pistol.
With regards to brands you would never consider purchasing, I'm wondering if there may be a caveat to it. After handling/ deciding on the 9, it was suggested that i might be interested in picking up a .22 handgun for fun and plinking, which i thought was a great idea. I was handed a Taurus X22 or 22X ( can't remember the order). The salesperson, who openly admitted, and i agree, would never recommend a Taurus for an EDC, stated that that one actually fired well and had some similar characteristics to the 9 ( with obvious differences in operations). Bear in mind this would NEVER be used as an EDC, but cost effective enough at only 320 dollars to come into consideration. That would also potentially be obtainable the same day as i would pick up the 9 due to price, fit my gorilla hands well enough and be just for fun. In that scenario, would you still not consider that brand?
I wouldn’t buy a Taurus for anything, no matter what the purpose. If you do happen to plan on buying a Glock for EDC like the 19, you can get the Glock 44. The 44 is almost a perfect copy of the 19 dimensionally and makes for good practice for running a 19. Or you can just as easily buy a Glock 19 and also buy a .22 conversion kit. Then when you want to train for cheap, throw the conversion kit on it and you’re good to go. Which also would help since you’d be getting more reps in with your exact same edc frame and build memory off of it…especially if you ever add things like a magwell, extended mag release, or slide release…

Great, @Defilade , now look at what you’ve done. Way to confuse the guy! @Jchrisls , I believe he was being sarcastic…I hope, lol. The Surefire X300U is a good light. I got my X300U years ago befure the new Modlite pistol lights were released. The new Modlite’s do outperform it. Also the soon to be released Cloud Defensive EPL-C and EPL-D are going to be really nice pistol lights when they come out. I’m sure I’ll be picking at least one of them up as well.

The way I see it, if you’re able to conceal a 26 with a 19 mag, you might as well get the 19 in the first place. The main section of the gun that’s the hardest to conceal is the grip, and if you’re going to make that longer with a 19 mag you might as well have the benefit of the additional barrel length and the ability to have a real weapon light that usable due to the addition of the rail. Then you’re not stuck with a really shitty TLR-6. I also am not a fan on those weird magazine spacers. I personally don’t want to put some weird piece of plastic that going to inadvertently slide up and down on my magazine when I don’t want it to. If you want to carry a 26, carry the 26 with a 26 size mag or you can even get the factory 26 mag with the pinky extender for a better grip. If you’re going to carry a gun with a 19 sized mag…just carry the 19.
Right, but you can just put the 26 mag in and you've got full concealability.
I’m all for interchangeability, that’s one of the reasons I stick with double stack 9mm Glocks. My 34 mags fit in my 19 and 26 and the same goes for the 19 mags into the 26 like you had mentioned. I am a big fan of being able to do that. Though I will say I still don’t like those mag spacers at all and will never use them. I just throw one of my 34 or 19 mags into my 26 without any issue at all. I can pretty much carry my 19 everywhere without anyone knowing, and my 19 isn’t the standard sized 19. So concealing a standard 19 shouldn’t be too bad for most people, but I can absolutely see how someone might not want to carry a 19 all the time. But if that’s case, that person should just get a 26 also.

I would go with the VP9 ... Get use to it . Shoot it ... People buy guns and twenty years later only have a few hundred rounds through it.

Short answer is no.
Took the firearms safety course prior to my application and submitted a copy with my permit , although i wasn't advised as to what reasons i should put on the permit application. I hope i got that section correct. Additionally, i have numerous times advised my wife to apply, even if she were never to purchase to no avail.
