Why acp? Why not a .45 Colt ? S&W , Colt and some others make some fine revolvers. a 4"" -6" revolver in .45 Colt makes a fine HD, range gun.

Many have mentioned plenty of good .45s here so far.
I'll add a different a angle here though. Starting a "new to you caliber" right now would be completely useless. You can't find common handgun ammo right now. Your brand new .45 would be nothing but a paperweight for a while. Im a huge fan of redundancy. If you already have a 9mm, get another one so you can actually feed it.
Wait til some ammo stock comes back before you start a new caliber.

Although correct, most 45 Cilt ammo says 45 Long Colt on the box. So its hard to explain to people.
Glock 21 is a great gun but like mentioned, the grip is quite large.
I have a Glock 20 10mm wirh the same frame.
They make an SF (short frame) for the G20, so id imagine they make it for the 21.
The SF has a thinner grip.
I dont have huge hands and love the full size grip.

You're definitely on the right track with 45acp for auto carry/use. It's the ONLY serious, viable SD option, without using Magnum force. Buy a quality 1911, you'll want for nothing else. You picked a bad time to buy, as every @$$hole on the planet is gouging right now. The Colt Comp Series '70 is a GREAT value in a 1911 45.
