It seems sooner or later something is going to have to be done about NKs rapidly expanding capabilities.

I've read more stories lately where the elites may be turning against Their beloved dear leader.

The truth is that no one knows what is going on in north korea. There have been press reports about the collapse of the country or a coup every year for the past 20 years. The chinese keep that country going just to mess with the US. In addition there is a very cynical "unwritten agreement" between China and South Korea. In reality neither one of them wants north korea to fall. Both of these countries fear a wave of refugees pouring into their respective countries if north korea collapses. South korea saw the impact on west germany when it finally merged with east germany. So the crazy game goes on and it appears the current dictator is doing everything he can to ensure his own survival. A nuclear weapon on an ICBM would deter any invasion and may also keep the military/political elite at bay as well. If he sets it up so that he can launch it on his own and indicates he will do so at the first signs of a coup then he will have insulated himself. Crazy times we live in.

This a an older article but I just stumbled across it. Being that it is a few years old it's important to note that since it was written NK has conducted many more missile tests, launched a satellite and detonated nuclear bomb.

NK doesn't need an ICBM. One of their freighters has been caught twice already transporting guided missile systems. Had the ship operators not been retarded they may have gotten them through the canal. How many NK freighters ship to California? It only takes one with missiles on it.
I still doubt Lil Douche is dumb enough to do that anyway. We would rain hell into NK from our warships, then finish the parking lot with aircraft.

I read that after I posted, but another freighter was stopped just recently and iirc they weren't very smart with some things like answering hails. Besides being the same ship that was caught last time lol.

Basically the theory goes that NK would load a warhead in a satellite. it would not need to be heat shielded or need a re entry vehicle. It would be orbiting coming up from the south pole up north across North America. All of our defense capability is more or less deployed in the North to stop Russia or China. We would have next to no capability to stop it on a southern pole origin trajectory. The satellite would be in orbit about 250-300 miles above earth. Which, coincidentally is the optimal altitude to detonate an high emp optimized yield device. Boom.

So again, hopefully people in the Pentagon think like that and have plans, again I wonder if the x37 plays into that.

But we can't just go taking out a NK satellite if they realize it was us and not a malfunction they might see that as an act of war.

Maybe it had nothing to do with it and it was all coincidence, but the thought remains. There's no way to prove either way unless they brought the sat down for inspection. Theoretically, they only need to get the x37 close and discharge an EMP directed at the satellite to fry it's circuitry. They have mobile EMP devices to shut down cars, why not on the x37. Especially useful tool in orbit I think.
I've seen some things while under my telescope that were in orbit and curiously have the underside outline of a shuttle or x37, and I'm not the only one. A whole lot of guys on an astronomy forum have reported seeing the same thing, a couple have captured them taking photos of the Moon. So I completely believe we have something up there. Skeptics pass them off as birds or planes but I can see every distinguishing feature of an airplane at 30k feet and see the wings of birds flap through my telescope. Hell, I've even caught the ISS once! These objects were in orbit.

It would be a full, all out ,nuclear response . The US is in full commitment to protect S Korea includeing nuclear weapons . They would be hit with over a thousand nukes in less than 12 hours . The world will tremble in awe and leave their jaws wide open when they see what kind of damage was done . Nothing will be left alive in N Korea in 24 hours.

The US Army and Marines just don't have enough available assets to respond in time. That leaves no other option open for the US . Surrender South K or nuclear war with North Korea. Its a no brainer . They would decimate N korea.

But it's missing the point that no one knows how rational fat boy is. No one knows his motivations, delusions or paranoia. No one knows how much they are collaborating with Iran. After being labeled one of the members of the "axis of evil" and seeing us invade Iraq it should come as no surprise the dictator is moving as quickly as possible for a nuclear deterrent. He knows what our response would be if he ever used it. He's just doing everything he can to ensure we don't get a wild hair up our ass and decide to invade north korea.

I sincerely doubt he would use it unless we actually invaded. I think once he gets the capability (if he doesn't already have it) things will ironically become more and not less stable. Mutual Assured Destruction kept the cold war from becoming a hot one for decades.

It's a shame because north korea is truly hell on earth and I feel sorry for the people that live there. In reality apart from saber rattling there is not much we can do.

That's actually a good point. The Air Force has anti missile laser weapons on a couple of their big planes, I don't remember which though. They've been successful in testing, downing surface to air missiles. The technology they experiment with is probably 50 years ahead of what we serfs know about.

I disagree. They are backwards, weird, poor etc... But they are still very much a state and their totalitarian government has absolute control over everything.

They make local advancement and technological development basically in a vaccuum isolated from the world.

Doc, I read that too but I find it hard to believe a bunch of generals would take over just to install this clown. I have no trouble believing the dear leader was behind the murder. I just find it difficult to believe warding off a coup was his rationale.
