Given that Hochul couldn't cheat and win at this point and he knows it, and being the arrogant (and ignorant) fuck that he is, sees this and figures he has a better shot at the throne.
Listen, Zelden came precariously close to beating the buck-toothed bush bitch the last time, but he's got a big time Federal gig, so the GOP under Cox (god help us) better start vetting a rock solid candidate...by the time of the next governors race if the Trump Admin has things going well, even the "anyone as long as they're Blue" crowd might just shift right for a change.

No matter how well Trumps agenda is going, there is not a single NY lib that will admit he is doing well. They are all sufficiently brainwashed.

Hochul is very similar NYC Mayor Eric Adams in this regard. Both are progressive liberals who are deeply unpopular with voters and will likely not win reelection unless something drastic changes. Delgado dropping off the ticket shows that the Hochul Administration is a sinking ship and virtually everyone at the top knows it.

Her fight with the Corrections Officers is a clear case study of this. She's trying to shore up her progressive credentials with the left-wing NYC crowd (aka criminals and their apologists) to try and garner votes when she has a completely underwhelming record as Governor. Seriously, what has she accomplished of significance other than the "Concealed Carry Improvement Act" or congestion pricing? Even extremely anti-gun liberals are looking for other issues from their elected officials besides gun control and a shit ton of commuters are PISSED with having to pay even more just to get to work. Even with the mainstream media (looking at you NY Times and Albany Times Union) running interference for her, the polls are showing how deeply unpopular she is. She's doubling down on the far-left positions to try to shore herself up but it's a losing battle.

What's interesting is that Eric Adams went the opposite direction and basically became Donald Trump's bitch and is allowing ICE into Riker's Island and supporting other ICE raids in the City. He was already completely ineffectual with his job and knows the liberals are abandoning him so he's sucking on Trump's schlong to at least save his skin from federal prosecution. He ain't going to win reelection and I'm still not convinced he won't go to jail. His only accomplishment is that he made Bill DiBlasio look competent in comparison which absolutely no one thought possible

SIDE NOTE: I know someone who used to work at a swanky Manhattan restaurant that had to serve Adams and his entourage before he became mayor and she said he was the biggest, pompous ass dick she'd even had the displeasure to meet and could tell he was on the take even back then. Came in 15 minutes before closing, demanded to be seated, stayed several hours, purchased all kinds of fancy and expensive food and alcohol and didn't leave a tip. I also know a former NYPD chief of traffic who knew him when Adams was a cop - he really was a glorified meter maid - and Adams told him that the only reason he started 100 Blacks in Law Enforcement was so he would have something to run on when he ran for mayor.

My prediction for the NYS Governors Race is that the Democratic Party will force Hochul to step down to avoid another Joe Biden situation and probably try to get Letitia James in. She's worse than Hochul because at least she's mildly competent and has the right skin tone for the DEI crowd. If the NYS GOP gets their act together (I have no confidence that they will) they could actually win an election with the right person.

As for NYC Mayor, there's not a snowball's chance in hell that a Republican will win that race anytime soon. Things will have to get to 1970s levels of crime and decay or worse before people there finally pull their heads out of their asses. My guess is that our good friend Andrew Cuomo will throw his hat into the ring and will likely win the Democratic Primary and as a result get to move into Gracie Mansion.
