M&P Body Guard or Ruger LCP ?

Looking for a pocket gun for summer carry. The Ruger LCP 380 has an integrated laser for $329. The M&P has no laser and sells for $309. Price really doesn't matter since they are so close. Any opinions on which you would chose and why? The laser really doesn't matter other than I have a cat.

I do like the grip on the S&W and takedown is easier since the LCP has a special magazine to take the gun apart I was told. The S&W comes with a flush and extended magazine. The LCP only has 1 magazine.

I have an LCP Gen 1 that I carry often in a pocket holster. Took me a while to get used to the latest my trigger pull and the small size but I'm quite confident with it now after years of practice.

I recently checked out the LCP2 at Gander and I like it a lot. Trigger much better - shorter travel.

If you're going to get an LCP make sure it's not a Gen 1 (no offense @Calculon), there are lots of complaints about the trigger. They changed the trigger in the LCP Custom and again for the LCP II.

What do you mean the LCP has a special magazine to take the gun apart? There is a pin that you pull out then it comes apart easily (at least on my LCP Custom).

I have been kicking around the two aswell, But the diferece are there I like the fact that the S&W has second strike capablity and it felt a little better in my hand. The one that I fondle had the green CTS on it with the grip switch so you grip the gun and the lazer is on. I never liked having to turn on a lazer with your triger finger like the Gen1 Bodyguards. I have a CTS on my PM9 and I'm very happy with it functionality

I look at these guns this way your not pulling this gun to ward off a attack your pulling it to end the attack. With the S&W say your rolling around with the prep and the gun is press out of battery CLICK well now it goes back in battery you just squeeze it again and BANG the LCP you need to rack the slide which means two hands .


The lazer can be used as a deterant studys have shown that when police engage a prep with a lazer on there gun the prep surender over fights.

Let's clarify which LCP - original, custom, or LCP2?

The original has a long, heavy trigger pull that, quite frankly, sucks. The Custom cleaned it up a little. The LCP2 has a trigger that is MUCH lighter and has a clean, crisp break. The trigger is so nice that I'm actually a little leery about pocket-carrying it.

That said, I have a (original) LCP that goes everywhere with me. I carry it either on my ankle or in a wallet holster.

I wanted to get one too. The only thing that stopped me was the long reset. I don't like that. :(
