M&P Bodyguard 2.0

Anybody have one? Opinions? There was a classified post where someone sold one but no other threads it seems.
In any case when I picked up my Carry Comp a few weeks ago I was checking out a Bodyguard 2.0 they had in stock. I was impressed!
Until I saw one in person I didn't see any point to the thing, thinking it was the size of a Shield so why not just get the micro 9?
However when I handled it I realized the Bodyguard 2.0 is tiny! Really tiny but still fit my hand securely.
The size of it would make it a fantastic pocket gun and 10or 12 rounds of .380 ACP out of a little mouse gun is really good firepower.
If this had been available when I got my 340PD for my morning runs I would have selected the Bodyguard instead.
I can't quantify it but it somehow feels more substantial and secure in the hand than other pocket .380s I've handled, despite it's diminutive size. Perfect corner store/getting the mail/bathrobe gun. I'll probably pick one up at some point myself.

I handled one yesterday' I agree it fit my hand much better then the 1.0 bodyguard that I have. I to my have a weak moment and trade off the 1.0 and maybe my Keltec PF9 ( I hate the gun ) for might get $50.00 each for them in trade.

My LGS was only wanting $390 for the 2.0 so even at $50 a pop for your trade ins you'd likely have less than $300 to make up the difference and you'd have a far better gun. Or so I'd presume. I haven't shot the 2.0 but with good sights, grip, trigger and overall balance I fail to see how it could shoot anything other but we'll.
S&W has been on fire with their poly/striker releases lately.

It’s a nice gun but they are having a lot of issues. Just read all the threads on the S&W forum about its issues. S&W customer service is terrible and seems to be using their customers as beta testers.

I’d wait until it’s out for over a year.

Well that is a crying ass shame right there. I am 2 for 2 on our of the box returns for S&W revolvers but I had hoped that what they say about the polymer pistol modles being GTG was true.
Then again it's not unusual for a brand new model to have teething issues.
Hopefully Smith gets under it sharpish.

Yeah, it’s a risk early buyers make.

Mags only loading 2 rounds and having to trim followers, having to polish feed ramps on a brand new gun to get it to feed, shooting low left from a rest, very ammo picky, bad recoil spring design buyers are having to fix themselves because S&W sends them the same bad recoil spring as replacements.

It’s not stuff you should have to do to a new gun, especially one you’re going to carry.

Looks like the 340PD will be continuing on in pocket duty for tge foreseeable future. That's fine, it's a good little gun.

Maybe just hold off a bit, see what solutions come up. It's a new gun, teething problems are typical. Look at all the issue the P365 had initially.
Thing is I don't see the new Bodyguard mix of capacity, size and ergonomics duplicated in any other model
Ruger has a new high capacity .380 but it's bigger than the Bodyguard 2.0 but tgr Ruger would be an alternative.
Personally I will wait for Smith to iron out the bugs and then make a purchase.

I was on the fence for a bodyguard 2.0 mostly because it is the new kid not he block and I already own a lcpmax for summertime or true concealment times in my pocket .. but I have extra money invested in the lcp max including all the mcarbo goodies including trigger and recoil springs and mag release spring making it truly a gem to shoot , add an extra 8 mags and two holsters plus the issues initially with body guard 2.0 I will keep lcp for the time being .. but the ones that work they say the shooting and bore axis is spot on

If they were reliable I'd consider letting my wife have the lcp max and I'd grab the body guard.



But I've had only one malfunction with my lcp max, possibly user induced

At least I haven't had any issues with the carry comp. Not the slightest hiccup over 1k rounds now.

Last night I happened to stop by Cabela's and checked out the Bodyguard .380 Version 2.0. I have the Ruger LCP MAX which has no thumb safety, so I have been curious to check out the Bodyguard TS (thumb safety) version.

What an absolute disappointment. It looks nice enough, - but the safety is ABSOLUTELY UNUSABLE! WTF? Also, the slide on the LCP MAX is much better designed. Also, have seen some bad reviews re reliability on the Bodyguard. S&W missed the boat on this one.

I'll stick with the LCP MAX over the Bodyguard, and for .380 designs with safeties, I'll stay with my Kimber Micro Raptor or the SIG P238, - both of them now have ambi safeties that I retrofitted. Less rounds than the LCP MAX, but... They are both mature copies of the original Colt Mustang.

thanks for sharing guess a rare time newest and greatest is NOT always best will keep my lcp max and all my updates via mcarbo and extra mags to practice abd pocket holster i have invested for the summer time shorts conceal carry .. dont knock what’s working
