M24 SWS

Hey guys, is it possible to purchase an M24 SWS that’s seen combat? I just think it’s be really cool to own one that’s not brand new, but has actually seen some action. I’ve seen people selling new ones but that’s about it. Any tips appreciated, thanks

Bit of a necro but I wanted to provide an actual answer.

Short answer is no you cannot, not easily at least.

Long answer is yes, I know of a few that were sold to non governmental orgs and have since been sold or passed on to civilian hands I have shot one of these myself. However the main source was the Remington rebuild program in 2012 where Remington bought back about 650 of the rifles and re barrelled used M24s stripped them down to a barreled receiver and put all the used stuff onto a new production barreled receiver. This included the optics/mount, stock, carrying case and paperwork.
The whole thing after taxes and fees apparently cost around $4500. The catch however was Remington defense had an application process to buy one of the rifles and they did not sell very well for a whole host of reasons not worth getting into.

These rifles occasionally pop up on the secondary market for ~$7000 from what Ive seen and to be completely honest they are not worth the money. $5000+ is full custom bolt gun money. You can build a damn near perfect clone, only difference will be the markings on the receiver and still have money left over for at least a thousand rounds of ammo.
