For what its worth, mine has a triple carrier on the front, and thats it. I have a battlebelt that has a triple double decker taco mag holder, ifak, and dump pouch.

Just thinking out loud. Is it preferential to have mags on a battle belt for these two reason?
1. As @Celt mentioned earlier it is easier to be prone without added gear on the front.
2. In the event you are shot at in the front doesn't that have the potential of making the mags inoperable if they are hit?

If a mag is struck by a round, more than likely it will become useless at best.
You won't notice your mags much in a prone position when you really need to be in one. If you need to get flatter you can always roll onto your back and continue to fight from that position.
True this, right here. Play around a bit with different setups. YouTube has some great videos for this, as we have seen just in this thread.
Some of the videos are made by experts, real experts, not just people dressed up like one. They are experts and they are professionals; they are/were trained in a particular way for a particular set of missions. Just because something worked for them, does not mean it will work for all.
They have a lot of gear to carry, the general, average citizens mission may look very different than what we see on TV and on YouTube.
Take a day, play with the configuration of your vest; move things around. Your vest setup does not need to look all cool, hip and trendy; it needs to work for you and what your goals are.
I carry one mag on the back of my carrier that is easy to get to if I am in the prone position.
One very important thing while you are setting up your rig. Don't forget water.

Definitely don't fiddle with 10 rd shorties. Get some 10/30s, they're much easier to handle and work with pretty much any mag pouch.

I prefer 10/20. The slightly shorter profile makes prone easier IMO

Like others have mentioned, try out different set ups and see what works for you. If your primary use is home defense just set it up for what ever weapon is your primary hd gun, maybe a handheld flashlight, tourniquet, and dont worry about much else.
I am always messing around with my kit. I have a bunch of different type pouches and the like, I stick them on and see how they look, feel and fit.

Those looks good but just remember the more rigid they are the more likely they are to break and might make your prone more uncomfortable.

I went out to the truck about 15 minutes ago, brought the gear in. I'm in the weapons room playing around with it. Fiddlin round with it a bit.
I am NOT naked though.

LOL. Loaded with gear and ammo (not really compared to many on here). Not rich, not poor. Just trying to get my priorities in order in this insanity. Don't forget, many on here have a lot of money tied up in firearms and ammo. I only have 2 pistols, a shotgun, an AR and a small ammo supply because I didn't prepare over the years. Hardly loaded relatively speaking.

I just added an expandable baton, sits next to my fixed blade. The sheath on my blade has a little pocket in the front, just the right size for a leatherman.
Again I have bought into the G-Code system. Here's my front flap decked out. Still waiting on the vest and the plates to come in.
