Magazine question

Is there a table somewhere that lists what AR magazines are compatible with what cartridges? As an example, the magazine for a 6.8 is compatible with the .224 Valkyrie, but not the .223, it is more than just swiping out a follower, the ribbing in the .223 is deeper, the mouth is narrower. What with the fixed magazine we are forced to use here, FUAC!, I was wondering what other cartridges would work in the 6.8 magazine, and what other cartridges would work with the 5.56 magazine, as is or simply swiping out the follower.
I have looked around the web and found nothing, but my search skills aren't the best.

Just saw an article on a cartridge called the '350 Legend' by Winchester, which is now commercially available. If I read it correctly the casing was formed from a 5.56 cartridge, so am I right in thinking this would load and feed from a standard 5.56 magazine?

Needs it's own mag (no ribs).

No, the 350 Legend requires a slightly different magazine, due to the cartridge dimensions that maximize performance.

I believe tromex also modifies the lancer mag.

I know the magpul has to be modified for both the 450 and 458..

(I need to get one of those tromex mags and followers here one of these days for my 450 build)

458 socom works in the 5.56/223 mag ,, just need a 30 rnd one to hold 10 LOL .. FUAC

So many missing in there.
For example the 6mm BR and 6.5BR will work with several 6.8 and 7.62x39/lbc/Grendel mags up to 5, 6 and even 7 rounds before they swell too much.
All the wssm work with many mags too.
The 30 herret will work but will need the front rib rebated.
So many missing in those areticles. Also some incorrect info.

Straingt wall rimless for a modern aggressive autoloader is a very bad idea. Just calling for all sort of problems.
They also lie about their numbers.
35 is an awesome bore but not for this casing.
Makes sense?

Kind of Meketrefe. Am I right to assume the 350 head spaces on the case mouth as opposed to the shoulder? Yeah, the guy's doing the field testing said their numbers were short of what is being published.
I'm just looking for a fun project, an AR upper that is comparable with a fixed magazine lower in 6.8 or 5.56.

You really only need the follower.
The Tromex /Lancer mag is opened a bit on the front face, with Dremel or such.
Keeps the case wall from catching.
Lot of info out there on 450 builds and feed issues.
The lancer floorplates are easy to take on and off.
There is a 1/2” travel limiter on the spring base that also needs to be cut down to allow for the full capacity of 5.
On a fixed mag build the mag must only be loaded with 4 to allow the upper to close on the lower.

The head space on the mouth is not only a problem with the velocity of the chambering an group but the magazine itself.
Whst do you like to do, extreme accuracy perhaps? Or perhaps somethimg with great power but better ballistics than a 45 or 50 caliber? Or something simple yet a substantial improvement like a 6mm tcu or 6x45?

Do you want full 10 round mags or 5 to 7 shots would be enough?
For me is not a problem for specialty and/or hunting calibers but for folks trigger happy might not be a negotiable part of the tradeoff.

The animals I hunt are entitled to me doing my very best. so I guess you could say it has to be a consistent and predictable accurate shooting piece of equipment.
Like my muzzleloader's, I have come to enjoy the process of planning, assembling, and making the gun as much as using it. Unfortunately in NY limitations make it almost impossible, legally anyway, to enjoy the almost unlimited caliber selection for any given lower assembly, so I am trying to work with what I have. It just as simple as that.

Extreme accuracy in a AR: A cartridge and rifle that can produce 1/2 moa consistently with extra speed and energy and bore that has very good bullets to take that accuracy far if needed, for example the 6mm BR.
We are talking about repeatable true accuracy like the one that is needed for being able to compete and even win matches, not the capability to produce cherry picked groups for internet amusement.

Hunting big game or hunting small game?
In reality hunting is something that you do with a rifle not the rifle itself.
In an AR it could be competition level accuracy to shoot paper or also varmints. (pretty typical)
White Oak, Whitley or FA would have very accurate uppers out of the box.
LesBaer is one known for its accuracy out of the box too.

But if you want to build then the sky is the limit as soon as the cartrige length is within the AR15 limitation.

WSSM and high pressure .473 bolt face bolts are more complicated just because of custom extensions and also not many out there.

This was the main reason to use the .450 bolt face for the 35 gunner since young manufacturing and ARP had beefed up models.

I still have a few of the .473 ARP superbolts for future projects but they are not easy to find.

Oly arms and D-tech will build you a WSSM including 30 and 358 calibers yet I am still skeptical about the durability in the long run due to the massive thrust for the lug section.

I just remembered I have a 6.5 TCU barrel and dies that, like other cats I have, will probably will not have time to use.
I don't mind selling cheap and it is a very easy round to make. It is a popular round for silhouette shooters and single shot deer / black bear hunting.
Powerful rounds made with virtually free 223 brass.
Grendel power but with the same 223 bolt and mags for an auto-loader and if one doesn't mind not having all the way full magazines.
Some mags will actually stack more if one rebates the front ribs that is an easy job with a dremel. (cut out mags) They also sell them.
IMO all one needs are 2 or 3 modified x10 round $10 magazines.
Nice hunting power on the cheap. Accurate too.
