This guy must have been quite the chatty Cathy for a everyday shoplifting charge to lead to enough probable cause to obtain a warrant to search his storage unit. Speaking of which, how exactly did they find this guys storage unit, unless he just volunteered that information?

With as bad as the media have become at explaining stories and just reporting in general, for all we know the storage unit was in his back yard or they found something at the house leading them to it. Hell, for that matter we don't know that they haven't been watching this guy for a while given the fact that a shoplifting charge turns into a search warrant. I guess if he was stealing pistol ammo and has no permit, that might trigger a search. Who knows.
