Making some changes to the G34

I guess I am a bid board so I decided to make some changes to my G34.

On Saturday I replaced the factory 5.5# striker spring for a 4# reduced one. I Was a little concerned that I might have some light strikes, but after 150 rounds of both reloads and factory ammo no problems. The spring did make the pull weight lighter, but the reset is a little lighter too. I plan to order a 4.5# and 5# springs to see what is the best for me.

The second change will be to install an Overwatch trigger, just came in the mail today. I will be installing it tonight most likely. This in the new trigger.



I do also have a Ghost 3.5 # connector too but think I will just replace the trigger and see what it does by itself. I am tempted to put the connector in at the same time since I have used it before in the G34 and did like it more than the stock minus connector.

Feels nice and does everything as advertised. By my measurements the total trigger travel was reduced by 24%, pretravel was down 35%, and from the wall to full rear (reset distance) down 18%. Pic below shows how I measured it, black ink is stock trigger and red ink is Overwatch. Should be able to get to the range soon

Hell yea nice changes. I really like the Overwatch precision DAT/TAC triggers, and if they were not so "new" to the market when I was in the market i probably would have ended up with the TAC over my Agency Arms (I cant compare the two, and i am pretty sure they are very close) .

Flat face triggers for the win.


And this makes me wish I had the extra coin laying around to do a competition Glock that I have in mind (super over the top)

The way you customize your carry pistols they are basically competition pistols anyway

With the price of the poly trigger its a great value.
I have tried trigger springs a couple of times and dont like the feel of the trigger with them. Did not like the feel of the pull and the reset sucked. The striker spring is worth playing with imo, I only had a 4lb spring with the stock trigger the reset was a little soft. With the overwatch trigger the reset was better, but I will try 4.5 and 5 lb springs. I would like to try an over travel stop also.

My G34 is a range toy only.

For match use any reason for 357 over 40?

Wanting to port the barrel, the 357 would have higher pressure which in turn make the ports work better and less felt recoil

I have never shot a ported 357 but have fired a ported 40. The only problem with the 357 that I see is the cost of the ammo.

Sadly that is true about ammo cost, and why this is really just a pipe dream

Fast fire red dot not the best but have given me good service.

I had a ff3, It was my first red dot, when I really wanted one for carry and to see if I would like the idea.

I had no problems with it (for a range gun or even on a rifle) but I ended up last month gifting it to my buddy down in SC on the condition that he would turn one of his Hi Points into a "Roland Special" as a joke. He loves hi points and is currently looking for someone to mill the slide lmao
