I grew up in homes where we had indoor shooting traps in the basement (augmented ventilation too), self supervised minors shot inside the house thousands of different days. How times have changed.
Extremely vague article. Does the dude have a range in his house? Is this guy a convicted felon? Did the guy negligently shoot in his house and the rounds went through a wall, posing a threat for people or property outside?…

I grew up with a 70 foot range in the basement. I shot bows and BB / pellet guns all the time down there. Occasionally Dad would load wax bullets into shells with magnum primers in the .45 Colt and we would shoot that revolver down there. I have a bullet trap and archery targets in my basement now, but I only have a 36 foot range. Any time I shoot the .22 in the basement, I turn the stereo up a little to cover the sound just so some of my neighbors don't figure out what's going on.

Which law states 300 feet as being the distance? And you’re also missing an important factor…it’s only illegal if you don’t have consent of the other dwelling owner to discharge a firearm within the proximity of their dwelling. So again, what law states 300ft from another dwelling?

That doesn't say you can't hunt with a rifle.
It basically just says if you are out in the field with a shotgun full of slugs it is prima facia evidence that you are hunting deer.
It's bullshit, but that's what it says.

SPAT - Many many laws written that way, especially in NYS. It's legal until a cop decides you are doing something they don't like, then it becomes illegal.
