Are you sure this is needed? I've never read that it's required in the safe act for any stocks you have, especially if you have kept true to a SAFE act compliant configuration that came from the manufacturer.
Correct there is nothing in writing just examples where the SP have requested it be doneAre you sure this is needed? I've never read that it's required in the safe act for any stocks you have, especially if you have kept true to a SAFE act compliant configuration that came from the manufacturer.
On that note a factory original sks can be converted to a pistol grip stock and to accept detachable mags...It's not law to have the screw epoxied. If it were the case, you'd have to do that with your Mini 14, Ruger 10/22, ECT.
Pratt insists the gun is perfectly legal, but for some reason, he took off and police have been looking for him since.

Strange story. If his gun was “legal”, why the hell did he go “The Fugitive”? Normal people don’t do that. Strange story. I wonder if the dog was intimidated by the rifle when he came back with it?
Regardless of whether he used the best tactics, the chief of police saw what he was doing and didn't detain or arrest the fellow. The police seized his rifle without knowing if a crime was committed - if they didn't know the gun had a banned feature, they shouldn't have touched it.
One more thing that struck me as funny... There was no mention about checking the registry database. If the rifle had banned features but was registered, its still kosher. But as far as we know, it was never checked.
That's all well and good, but the police don't know when he bought it.This Poststar story says he bought it last year from a NY FFL so long after registry closed

Sorry link did not copy right but it is from post #25 in this thread.
How is that not a 4th amendment violation if the guy isn't under arrest? Can you impound my car to determine if its compliant too?If the cop is so inclined, due to the laws we have, they are legally entitled to take possession of a gun which seems to fit the bill to determine it’s status. It was in plain view. We’re not talking about a concealed handgun. Two different legal concepts.
What other property can be taken without evidence of a crime being committed?
So if he held it in something like this, there is no ground to search and seize it?Anything in plain view that could possibly be contriband. Your rights against search and seizure greatly diminish once items are exposed in public.
We already have case law that prohibits police from taking a gun to count bullets. How is a functionality that isn't readily apparent any different? If the guy fights this I see the "search" of his gun getting thrown out.Anything in plain view that could possibly be contriband. Your rights against search and seizure greatly diminish once items are exposed in public.
Now its concealed. Get in the paddy wagon. So if he held it in something like this, there is no ground to search and seize it?
What if I only conceal the features? Now its concealed. Get in the paddy wagon.
If you're in Ft. Edward, don't bother. The police chief won't know what they are anyway. What if I only conceal the features?
