Not generally. The only reason it was considered here is because other officers were there with guns on target. Still highly risky. That just goes to show the lengths they went to resolve this safely. A taser is not a deadly weapon. When someone has a deadly weapon on you the counter to that is for you to also use a deadly weapon. Matching reasonable force.

Beat me to it. Over the last number of months I have seen some lives that care so little about others as far as their freedom, property and personal safety that I would say the world would be a better place and not miss them one iota if they were no longer here. In those cases those lives are worth nothing. I also can say that and sleep well at night knowing I didn't start this shit show.

I have fully understood, for years, that not all lives matter. I see this fact each and everyday.
Offhand, I can think of 9 different police shootings where a Taser - several times deployed 2 or 3 times, was ineffective. They are proven to be less than reliable. Once that fails to work, I doubt that the next thought is going to be - what if I shoot a bean bag at them or call the FD and get a hose truck. Officers have to make hard choices in volatile situations with the tools at their immediate disposal. Real life does not allow time-outs to go plan out a new strategy. Leave "And now for something completely different" to Monty Python.
I think many would be shocked to hear how often the Taser in not effective. Same with spray, regardless of how potent the spray is.

Good points in your posts. As mentioned, this guy clearly had mental issues. I dont have the answer on how to best deal with this type of situation, but it would have been a better outcome if he didnt get shot. My original post still pertains to the topic at-large as most people who get shot by cops do so for not listening... the problem is when someone is not capable of reasonably listening.

In many cases it escalates to more serious violence.
It is okay to question the actions of Officers. People see a video and then they have discussions of what they watched.
I have seen many incidents in which the actions of the Police should be questioned, if not for the questioning of these incidents, officers would have carte blanche. I for one would not want that.

I only watched the vid once and skimmed the comments, but from what I saw the police didn't fire until bottle guy got close to a car with people in it and a DOOR OPEN! That put the public at risk and if the cops didn't stop it right then and some one got hurt or killed it would be they're fault.
