The owner did shoot the bobcat in the shoulder but it is reported that Bobcat was ultimately shot dead by responding police and the bobcat tested positive for rabies.
Both scratch / bite victims each received 30 injections for treatment.

Easier said than done.
I remember aa a kid my mom and aunt were giving first aid to a neighbour who had his arms ans chest made a mess by one. Some deep lacerations and cuts initially they applied some cleaning and bandages but he had to go in for stiches in several places.
He broke the cats neck but it wasn't easy ans this as an outdoors and extremely strong and tough guy.
There were towels soacked with blood so this is no joke.

It's more about technique than strength.
But, yes, expect to get cut up pretty well.

It doesn't take that long for them to test. I sent a bat that my daughter found on her pillow (at 1 am). Took the carcass to the county health department. They FedEx'd it overnight to Albany. Had results in less than 36 hours from dropping it off.
Just don't shoot whatever it is in the head if you can avoid it. They need the brain for the test.

Well, this guy is still around and he was a hunter and a professional butcher who did most of the slaughters and butchering for people and he was a skilled trapper and animal handler too aside from being built like a bull.
All that I am saying is that when it comes to wildlife there some very hardy wild animals even if they are not the largest predators. And because of that there might be a big leap from theory to practice.
Several of his veins in his forearms were sliced like if it was done with razors and he had a thick flanil shirt... Perhaps if this was in the winter with a leather jacket or a karhar heavy coat that would not have been that brutal.
The cat was big too.
