I'll add train depos. Some cars may have interesting goods but for me, they have an almost unlimited supply of diesel. I could easily drive away with 300 gallons in barrels. Easy supply of fuel for my truck.
Honestly, I never thought about it until last week. I was sitting in a McDonald's parking lot looking at a train engine idling on the tracks. Got to thinking that's a shitload of diesel right there in front of me if SHTF. And looking at all the cars behind it, got me to wondering what could be in them.Good add. Not sure why I never really thought of depots. I have thought about traveling tracks if needed, never the depots!
Fifty years ago I used to by these
At Scranton's book store. I wanted to find all the old abandon ponds and oxbows that nobody knew about so I could hunt ducks without being crowded. Lots of good information on them for modern day use if you know how to read and interpret contour maps.Overview - Maps

More to go wrong with electronic devices. Dead battery. Got wet. Broken screen. Got dropped or stepped on. etc. Not saying they aren't more convenient or what not, however laminated paper is much more durable than an electronic device with a touchscreen. If it's something I *REALLY* need then I want it in it's most durable format.Don't discount just downloading offline ones to an SD card or your phone. You can even get satellite views of your area that way.
It's quite a bit more likely that you'll lose network access than your phone being completely fried. If you have the maps saved as offline copies your phone can still work as a GPS (assuming that hasn't also been disabled, and even then it still works as a map and compass).
Those are all valid concerns, but I can carry maps in my pocket on my phone that would fill many boxes as paper.More to go wrong with electronic devices. Dead battery. Got wet. Broken screen.
