WTF? have these guys ever heard of EMP, and what it does to complex manufacturing processes? Lets just peg our mission sustainability on an ecologically correct field produced munition against an enemy who had the sense to preposition umpteen thousand conventional munitions as a counter. Dammit, we are so inebriated with the idea of technology, that we have forgotten why we do it...

3D printing (which includes polymer and metal) can be used to design some previously impossible shaped shrapnel patterns. They can also print shaped charge cavities that would be cost prohibitive to machine conventionally.
