Funny you didn’t post this when AOC was crying about it and that she didn’t make enough money to live. There are plenty of democrats that cry about it. If you’re only going to be one sided then you’re a hypocrite.
I understand her point about being away from her family but what did she expect? No they don’t need to cut how many days they are working as it should be a sacrifice to do the job.
I also don’t get the idea that she’s crying about the pay of HOR members just that she made more money before entering and it wasn’t such a drag being away all the time. I’m not sticking up for her just saying I see her point.

In today's economy $174k is paltry for someone in a leadership position in a large company, let alone an organization the size of the US government.

The problem isn't that they get $174k. The problem is all of the congresscritters who manage to supplement that $174k with so much other income that they really aren't working for the government anymore.

It's a $174k/yr job, but most of them manage to increase their net work by over $1M/yr. Now *that's* the scandal.

MTG shouldn't be condemned for complaining about the $174k, she should be commended for not taking all the dirty money that the rest do.

Washington is full of special interest groups willing to fund politicians on both sides of the aisle. How do you figure? One need to be of retirement age and its a percentage based on years served. After 25 years the max is 80%
It is still a pretty good racket for a one term senator though, at retirement age its like 10%.

And health care if I remember correctly. This is what needs to change especially if we are going to ever get term limits. We can have many more people getting pensions for working that short of a time. I work for the government and I get a pension but it’s not full pay and after 25 years it will be roughly 50% of my salary and I’ll have paid in 3.0% of my salary for all 25 years so it’s more of a good 401K. I get no health care.

I stand corrected. He is eligible to start collecting a partial at age 56, 3 yrs ago. Now if you or I elect to take an early retirement we get a lesser rate and have to live with that for life and will never get full pension, when he reaches 62 his pension will increase to max benefits. And he was pretty much forced out for being a pedophile. If I was forced out for that I would be on welfare right now.
